	10:50pm listener mark: For me it was Maxwells, no matter who played. I was deaf for a day.

	10:51pm coelacanth: some local shows are definitely louder from where i stand. (literally) the size and the acoustics of the venue have a lot to do with it.
	10:53pm ScottC: Loudest Concerts are always Flipper with a broken 4/12 Bass Cab and Bruce in a bad mood.
	10:53pm coelacanth: the who at the spectrum literally hurt though - to the point that i wanted to leave 1-2 songs in because i was in pain. ...i didn't though, and my head hurt for some time after.
	10:55pm listener mark: Yes, do not stand in front of the bass speakers at a concert. Internal organ damage.
	10:56pm Scraps: I can't stand too-loud bands and/or clubs. When it's too loud -- half the time -- I can't hear, separate the instruments, etc.

	11:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63: There's always earplugs as an option. ...Any show now - a small club w/ large speakers angled right @ you for hours...& they've definitely gone for Bass now...& I really like it loud & being up front...
	11:01pm coelacanth: i always wear earplugs now. i can still hear everything, just quieter.... and i can still feel it.
	11:01pm Scraps: earplugs don't help, for me. too fuzzy with earplugs....
	11:02pm ScottC: I damaged an ear playing a trap set with a piccolo snare at an after hours party. That things high range frequency was off the charts - bleeding...

One guy told me he was a drummer - & a monitor was right next to him - & the guitarist unplugged & it went SQUEEE - & deafened him in that ear instantly - sent him to the ground!
	11:06pm coelacanth: yeah it's the high frequencies that do the permanent damage. i'm not a fan of many drummers who use the cymbals a lot.

	11:10pm Ken From Hyde Park: Yes, high frequencies are what enable a listener able to recognize speech well. Once that's gone, it's tough to hear what people are saying in conversation.

	11:17pm listener mark: I'm a rail rat. Get there early and stake your spot. Also a lot of smokity smoke tends to get passed forward. And my ears are ringing on the train ride back to Beacon, NY. Well worth it.

She came into my room once after reading about “Mein Kampf” in an encyclopedia and simply said, “Did you ever read what Hitler thinks? That guy is crazy!” Straight shooter!

The role of a collaborationist is normalize the abnormal by saying things like "shut up or you will be left behind" That is what my best friend said to me and that was what Quisling sad to Norway.

Considering her family was destroyed and she spent her teenage years living on the run—mostly in the woods (utterly not joking)—I consider it darkly charming that when she read a passage in the “World Book” encyclopedia, that is when she finally felt comfortable enough to say she thought the guy was crazy. Love her (and my dad) and miss her. As for the rest of the family… Ehhh…

The biggest, high level takeaway I can give is this: If you are clinging onto some relationship where you hope some major event will knock someone sane… Don’t wait… Some people will never change and are just toxic and sadly those can include friends and family.
