Thanks EFD! Lots here to add to my list. fyi: 'Car 67' was one of my favorites of '16. Cheers!

@UM: I'm the last person to be patriotic but couldn't you squeeze in one Australian power pop classic?!

What Antipodean power poppers from the '70s did I miss?

Happy new year to all. I should wake up and get some of these, like Fallen Leaves. I have Entertainment Weekly's best-of issue. Ahem, vastly different.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm

I promise you Skyhooks would make my glam show...if I did one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm

@drewo I'm so happy to hear that! "Car 67" is so great.
  10:04pm
Stevel:

Does/do OBN IIIs keep getting better?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm
efd:

@Stevel: somehow, that seems to be the case.
  10:12pm
Eddy in Australia:

@UM: Maybe not all '70s, and we might quibble over whether they're all power pop, but Young Modern, Little Murders, and The Riptides.
  10:15pm
Stevel:

Deep Blue. Looking forward to seeing/hearing them live.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Uncle Michael:

The show was exclusively '70s releases, or...for example, The Innocents would have made it in.

I appreciate being schooled about these other artists, who, research indicates, each released one record inthe '70s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
Uncle Michael:

EFD, have you offered a deli tray?
Avatar 10:21pm

@Uncle Michael: Maybe the Swingers?

Uncle Michael:

Damn...well, that's all I got.
Avatar 10:22pm
Scraps:

As in "Counting the Beat"?
  10:23pm
Eddy in Australia:

@UM: Yeah, I had a couple others on my original list who veered into the early '80s and garage/punk territory, didn't realise the '70s timeframe. Definitely check out: the first three LM and first two Riptides singles, and all YM (one LP, one 45).
  10:25pm
nightjeans:

Jesse just played this on Monday night this song is dope!!!!
Avatar 10:25pm
Scraps:

Ah, no, Counting the Beat was 1982. Shoot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
Uncle Michael:

I should do an all Aussie/Kiwi show, genre and era be damned.
  10:25pm
Eddy in Australia:

@UM: There you go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
melinda:

That would be fun, Uncle M
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm
efd:

@Scraps I was thinking "Counting The Beat" was post-'70s but wasn't sure. Great song though!
  10:27pm
Eddy in Australia:

@UM: Or, in this case, there you au-go-go!
Avatar 10:27pm

Year-end retrospective shows on WFMU in general, and specifically Evan's, are some of the most informative broadcasts on the station. Reminds me of when I was a kid listening to FM with paper and pencil in hand, furiously writing down info about cool tracks that I was just discovering.
  10:36pm
Eddy in Australia:

@UM: What Scraps said. Even Roger Shepherd (FN boos) admits this in his 2016 memoir.
