Anyone admit to owning Top of the Pops albums on the Hallmark label?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
Brian in UK:

No. My first single was The Young Ones by Cliff. Arranged by Norrie Paramour (what a name)
Avatar 3:57pm
Bill Mac:

Hallmark, as in the greeting card people?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm
Stanley:

An offshoot of Pickwick records. LPs of cover versions of hits with dubious girlie covers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm
Guido from Cologne:

I wasn't lying about my 10 teenage albums. But 10 weren't enough
Avatar 3:59pm
Ike:

Mine would mostly be shoegaze stuff, so not a lot of variety. Well, maybe also Basehead and latter-day Siouxsie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
Guido from Cologne:

Ooops ... missed that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm
Brian in UK:

I'm still a teenager behind these eyes. Well, you know...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm
Fran:

Not surprisingly, none at all Stanley - plenty of obscure jazz, metal and post punk etc. Bill - mine is easy:
* Foreigner 4FS and all 4 the charity shop
* Styx - Symphonic Babe
* Red Sovine plays Nick Cave
* REO Speedwagon - Keep On Loathing You
* Christopher Cross - the Metallica Sessions
* Little Jimmy Osmond - Baby James Osmond
* Big Jimmy Osmond - plays Howlin' Wolf
* Air Supply - Larks Tongue In Aspic Part II
Oh I give up - I'm telling fibs!

9. Tangerine Dream: Rubycon
10. Dead Kennedys: Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables

What's the question?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm

Cool just like a long haired lover from Liverpool Stanley? When about 7 or 8 I had a TOTP record - it had Crazy Horses on it which almost sounded like the original from memory - and of course a scantily clad model on the cover not really getting Mum's approval! Any Music for Pleasure records Stanley?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm

Guido - a great list but if you are claiming teenage ownership you'll need to supply a photo of you with the records in school uniform... and not taken yesterday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
Brian in UK:

Bill, raising a glass of Jim Beam Rye to you and everyone out there. Peaceful times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm

Avatar 4:18pm

@Fran Reminds when I got Roxy Music's Country Life album. It was the one with the two young ladies in their underthings. Didn't have the nerve to take it home so I brought to my best friends house. It immediately took it out of the bag and shoved in front of his mother while she was having coffee. She was understandably irritated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm

And Sex Mob, that is a band I love (and, truly, anything Steven Bernstein touches).
Avatar 5:16pm
Bill Mac:

@UM I saw him during the Sailing the Sea of Cheese years. Any idea of who might've been in that project?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm
Fran:

Mr Bernstein is indeed a treasure!

Wow, thank the gods for the archive, you've had a happenin' couple of hours here, Bill. And more shifts coming up. Watch out, steady work might become a thing.
Avatar 5:22pm
Bill Mac:

Lovejoy! They played that here in the US. This is a great CD for all of those reasons
Avatar 5:24pm
Bill Mac:

Yeah Sem we been bizzy today... funny, hot and cold as far as shifts go. I'm back in 18 hours after this is over. Not complaining

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm

Ian McShane also rivals Bono in the exceptionally bad haircut Olympics. He has a mullet of great awfulness!

We don't pelt DJs with rocks or garbage on the Drummer Stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm

ABBA songs actually work well on accordion.

still b/p:

A friend scoffed at me for liking "Waterloo" when it was charting, but beyond that there was no appeal back in the day. It took decades for me to declare a truce after turning away from the ABBA spangle-schmaltzy, overcooked, over the top pop.

I almost named my first show They Pelted Us With Rocks and Garbage.

as I started listening back to Beefheart's back catalog as a youth, I found some of those albums that critics called 'lesser albums' not quite as lesser as I had anticipated.

Just bought that Ballad of Mott comp and four Supersister records. The Mott tune a while back prompted me to do it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm
Rich in Washington:

I remember being handed a copy of Bluejeans and Moonbeams along with a bunch of other cutout bin records by some roving scam artists who were supposed to be selling (stolen, probably) records out of their van for charity. I think I gave them the buck or so that I had in my pocket and they irritatedly handed four or five records over. I never even listened to it. I was like 9 years old or something.
