Cool Procol Harum, haven't heard it in a long time (as opposed to the usual, which I generally haven't heard at all).

Goddammit! I'm in! Made a late pledge to your show last week. Just letting you know so you know I care. Keep it weird!

He's a hitmaker. He reminds me of R. Stevie Moore in that lighthearted, yet intellectual take on pop. Super talent!

Here are some chimpanzee-like vocals for our ape overlords.

Parq:

Gee, it's been a long time since I've heard Ellen McIllwaine. Her "I Don't Want to Play" was a big FM hit in Boston in the mid 70s. I saw her at Passim's in Cambridge around then.
Avatar 12:39pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Parq! I'm a big fan of her '70s stuff. Also like her early psych band, Fear Itself.

Dean:

This Yximalloo is fantastic. Are all the records this good? Reminds me, too, to acquire the Fallopian Disco Force records.
Avatar 12:59pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: Yeah, I really like all of Yximalloo's stuff -- tho some are pretty different from what we were just hearing. He's been releasing stuff since the early '80s. He categorizes what we just heard as "hip hop" (no comment).
  12:59pm
Dean:

Hip hop? I would have guessed Flamenco.
Avatar 1:00pm
βrian:

I was going for straight-ahead jazz.

Hey Tony and all. Been enjoying the show on my phone app & VTuner. Just opened on my laptop and love the Japanese primates ( pre-anime?). Presume Spazz gave the blessing to utilize the Simian motif?
Avatar 1:20pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Kevin!

Yes, those apes are Spazz-approved, I'm sure....
Avatar 1:22pm

He can never say no to an ape.

I like this one!
Avatar 1:24pm
Tony Coulter:

Yes, Foussat is great! Very distinctive and imaginative....
Avatar 1:27pm
Tony Coulter:

And what I love about FMU ls that I can play Vanilla Fudge and Jean-Marc Foussat in the same show and everyone takes it as completely normal. (Which it should be.)
Avatar 1:35pm
Nick S.:

I just ordered this Warner. Thanks!
Avatar 1:37pm

Yeah, it's nice it got a reissue -- the original is super rare.

There's Stevie! Warner was a great price, too!

Eerily familiar but I've never heard this before.
NIce spin here, TC.
Avatar 1:50pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Sem: Part of that Tonchos Pilatos reminds me of something off of Beefheart's "Safe As Milk." Perhaps that's it? Or perhaps they are the soundtrack of your dreams.....
Avatar 1:56pm
V Priceless:

this!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
Sem Chumbo:

I'll buy into the dreams suggestion.
Though have been a Beefheart fan since the time I was riding home over back country roads in the back of a speeding pick-up after a long summer day on a church roof with the rest of the roofing crew, a total eclipse of the sun happening, and "Big-eyed Beans from Venus" cranking on a local (usually) country music station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm

What a transition, to Johnny Rivers, love it! (Only on FMU).
Avatar 2:10pm

Rivers rules
Avatar 2:11pm
Nick S.:

Always used to think she should've told Rivers to fuck off for feeling this way.
Avatar 2:12pm
Nick S.:

I mean, you get the impression he's resolved to the po side of town.
Avatar 2:13pm
Nick S.:

Left side of headphones on that Rivers song is just backup vox and flute.
Avatar 2:22pm

He couldn't afford anything else, since he's from the poor side of town.

I remember buying this comp just for the SY track, yes, I was still in HS.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
listener james from westwood:

This SY track also appeared in a not-tremendously-successful horror film called "The Frighteners" 2 years or so after this comp. Character put it on LOUD to try and jam what he thought were psychic assaults.
