JakeGould:

I vaguely recall going on an olde-timey train ride—on a real train—that had some train robbers on it as a kid. But pretty sure it was not Wild West City; believe it was somewhere in New Jersey though. www.wildwestcity.com

Becky:

@JakeGould: I had the identical experience in WWC, so I think you must have had the same!
  8:09pm
JakeGould:

Like a full sized train? Not a kiddie train? Then maybe it was Wild West City!
  8:10pm
grace gold way:

yeah im blazin a trail
  8:11pm
grace gold way:

wow this record is covered with some real wild west dust

Becky:

Yes! I think they pretended to / did steal people's jewelry and watches!??
  8:13pm
JakeGould:

They asked me for my “money” and I started crying because my older brother—who took me on the trip—refused to pay the $2 for the play money so we could get properly robbed. So I had no idea what to give the guy. It was a fun ride otherwise other than me crying like a baby because I couldn’t give up play money to a high school student pretending to rob me.

Listener Robert:

I'm 63 YO, from the Bronx, and last fall moved to near Wild West City. My friends participate in a flea market held on the grounds just before & just after the season, to raise $ for BARKS (animal rescue). I went with them shortly after I moved, & mentioned I'd been to "A" Wild West City in NJ at least once in childhood, had pictures. They said it must've been there, they didn't believe there was any other Wild West City.

Also, Kamikaze Diane's exhibiting her clothing designs at the strawberry festival nearby at the old church on the Musconetcong.

Becky:

I love that we have all had this exact experience. I was born in 1985 and am from Metuchen.
  8:16pm
Listener Robert:

So, looks like Jake had the same idea as me, thinking WWC was somewhat generic, only to find out it must've been that one.

Joe from Hopatcong:

We live like 10min away from WWC and I've ALWAYS wanted to go. Now this playlist is really gonna make me seal the deal.
  8:17pm
JakeGould:

@Becky: This must have been in 1978 or 1979 for me. But those places rarely switch up the script. So I accept this as shared! Very cool!

Last time we were at Wild West City was for a wedding.

  8:21pm
JakeGould:

Hmmm… I’ll be sure to bring play money this time.

You should do a remote from Wild West City!

Joe stalvey:

Glad the lil lady was not here to hear that dirty dishes going undone number
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm
Becky:

I mean, is the WWC saloon even open at 8 PM on a Wednesday?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm
Becky:

@Joe do them yourself
  8:45pm
Listener Robert:

I vaguely remember some of the stuff at Wild West City -- think we might've gone back years later so my younger cousin could see it, but the part I remember best from my own childhood was counting the cars on the REAL freight train as we waited at the crossing on Route 206 (now Route 183) just off Route 46; Interstate 80 hadn't been built yet.
  8:46pm
Mark:

I just donned an Hawaiian shirt.

Todd-o-phonic Todd:

They could probably be talked into it for the millions of dollars of free promotion a Honky Tonk Radio Girl remote broadcast would generate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
Becky:

@Todd you're damn right
  8:57pm
Joe stalvey:

Becky, if it keep up this way, I may gotta clean my own spoon. Which is not a euphemism. 'Scuse me now, the beans are bubbling.
