Kind of feelin' the "oldies this AM. But I also have a Killdozer record in the pile, so we'll see where we're headed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am
ultradamno:

I always welcome Killdozer (who probably qualify as oldies now, gulp)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09am

Killdozer sounds like a good idea

Love The Wipers, underrated band.

Good morning Nate and friends! Hadn't heard that SY song in a minute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37am
fred:

That Sonic Youth track sounds more like some of Thurston Moore solo records. Which is my general take on that record: more a compilation of solo tracks than a SY record
Avatar 7:39am
Howard F:

@fred: pretty fair estimation, considering the state of affairs within the band at the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49am
fred:

@Howard F: Though I feel that had been increasingly the case since NYC Ghosts and Flowers at least
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50am

Also, KILLDOZER!!!

Good Muddy Morning, Nate

Howard F:

Wow, these guys do a pretty good ZZ Top.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

They swing the way the band w/ Muddy didn't quite there - but it's all interesting & good...

Will:

Imagine my surprise when I saw that this was NOT early ZZ Top!
Avatar 8:02am
Howard F:

Like ZZ Top with Bill Ward on drums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03am

Ha. Nice. A little Cream-like...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am

Fine Sunday morning of music, Nate. Thanks very much. See you and the pyros next time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29am
Nate K.:

Thanks, Sem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30am
Nate K.:

@Revo, I agree that Muddy record is interesting and I like it, but I often imagine that record w/ a different band...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am
ultradamno:

The Everly's could make pretty much any material work. Those voices alone will make you happy no matter what.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Muddy is trying to up the voltage for it - but as rooted in Blues as everything is...there is a swing, a subtle but crucial sensitivity to nuance of Rhythm that Muddy has they aren't up to there...That alone makes it interesting listening...
Nothing like Everlys harmony - & they had brilliant taste in material - great rekkids all around...
Avatar 8:40am
Howard F:

@Rev Rabbit: I read that he hated Electric Mud when it was finished, but when it started selling really well, he wanted to make another one with the same guys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

All those people like Iggy & Beefheart figured out it'd been Mastered - & they had to define their own 'Blues'...
C.Blossums are great for not just getting the Form awesomely - but that same Spirit of smart understanding of tradition & material.
