I will say that I think one of the most overlooked facets of Lynch's brilliance is in his casting choices. I've never really looked into that process and I'm sure there's many other people involved, but goddam, he knows how to pick'em (and has from the start)...

He was very impressed when I told him that Ridgewood Radio (on the Drummer Stream) interviewed John Zorn recently. (Unfortunately said gentleman turned out to be an alt-right MRA and, though Jewish, he digressed into, uh, how hilarious Hitler/Stalin memes on 4Chan are. I backed away slowly.)
