Interesting there were still cassette only releases in 1989, I thought most folks ditched their cassette players by then.
Hi all!

Good West Coast morning, Tony!
Howdy,fellow tape heads!

I was getting the upper hand until the frozen ravioli formed a wedge and stormed my front lines. I mean, there were 50 of them.
Avatar 12:16pm
Tony Coulter:

Hiya, doctorjazz!

Actually, the cassette underground thing continued on until maybe the mid-'90s -- I guess because it was still the cheapest, fastest way to release music.

Funny to think that Yugoslavia only had three more years of being a country when this tape came out....

Heya Tony and Hissers.

Webhamster Henry:

Hi Tony! Nice shortie there! I used to have a bunch of 30 min, 20 min and continuous loop tapes!
Avatar 12:25pm
Tony Coulter:

Hola, Carmichael!
Avatar 12:27pm
Tony Coulter:

Webham! Greets!

I've even got some 5-or-so-minute tapes -- though that is a bit ridiculous.
Avatar 12:27pm

Wow,"Doomsday" was prescient .
We have a small globe from the '50s with lots of places that are now other places...
Avatar 12:35pm
Tony Coulter:

Oh: The tape on now is the black-and-white one in the middle.

I have some really worthless Yugo Dinars.
Avatar 12:38pm
Tony Coulter:

I'll trade you for 'em. I can give you liras or marks.
Avatar 12:40pm
Tony Coulter:

As I mentioned (on mic), Pascal Liguoro is part of the Collectif & Cie ‎crew. Maybe the best known of 'em is Lieutenant Caramel.

I am sure I will enjoy side B as much as I enjoyed side A!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
JtotheK:

Also very much enjoyed that side!
Avatar 1:04pm
Tony Coulter:

As far as I know, this is Pascal Liguoro's only full-length release, tho he is on a few comps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Webhamster Henry:

This is good and blippy!
Avatar 1:12pm
Tony Coulter:

Didn't ask people to guess the LP underneath today's cassettes -- partly because too little of the cover is visible, and partly because it's a horrible record I'll be getting rid of as soon as possible. But, well, here it is anyhow: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm
JtotheK:

tony, please press up a few hundred LPs of this cassette and have available to us. from what I read online, pressing plants are way below capacity and should be able to complete this work order in a day or two. thanks!
Avatar 1:13pm
Tony Coulter:

JtotheK: Ha! I wish.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm

"horrible record i'll be getting rid of as soon as possible" ... do i detect a future themed show?

By the way : excellent sound quality for a 30 years old cassette played through the interwebs pipes.
Avatar 1:16pm
Tony Coulter:

@ JtotheK: Yeah, I guess I could have a thumbs up/thumbs down segment, in which you could determine whether or not I get rid of something.
Avatar 1:17pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, hey, Cheyenne ... and Turnip!!

never heard of Baba Jaga. I /have/ heard of Baba Yaga (and have the 'On the Edge' 1978 LP) cool jazz/rock from Portland!
Avatar 1:17pm
geezerette:

@Yvang: agree!
  1:17pm
Mark Williams:

enjoying this Liguoro, Tony.
Avatar 1:18pm
Tony Coulter:

@Yvang: agreed re sound quality. Partly it's because, for once, the dolby-ization really works ... unlike the upcoming tape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
JtotheK:

@cheyenne - now i have the groovy 7-11 slurpee song going thru my noggin...
Avatar 1:18pm

northguineahills:

No, I don't need proof of Utah. I'm still hoping against hope it's all fiction! (this is nice!)
Avatar 🥁 1:23pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Yep, on the Dolby thing. Went through most of my days in that scene ('85-'99ish) ruining everything with Dolby B. Dreadful high-end killer. BUT STILL! this Utah is lovely.
Avatar 1:23pm
Tony Coulter:

Greetings, NGH!
Avatar 1:26pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Turnip: Yeah, this tape is a real damned if you do/damned if you don't scenario when it comes to its dolby B-ness. Some tracks sound better w/out the dolby, some really don't. Decided to go with the dolby....
Avatar 1:29pm
Tony Coulter:

And, of course, the tape does claim it's been dolby-ized....
Avatar 1:30pm
Tony Coulter:

So ... turn your treble way up, everyone....

Open Sea brings images of Arctic exploration.
Avatar 1:41pm
geezerette:

Today's play list is full of sound equivalents of Abstract Expressionist painting in that it's evocative of many things at once but no one thing in particular. I love that. Plenty of space for the mind to roam.
Avatar 1:42pm
Tony Coulter:

Nicely said, geezerette....

Avatar 2:35pm

Side B of this tape is more sinister than side A -- it's the nihilist nightmare side, I guess.

Sounds of contemporary life.
Rearranged as music.

Actually like this Dau-Straun. Surprised I recognized some bands Tony is playing (Illusion of Safety & Klimperei).

yeah, this is a nice compilation, I have to say.
Avatar 2:51pm

It is very nicely sequenced. Has an overall character and mood -- as many of the best comps do.
