I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Dear listeners, it seems like I can't start my show at noon sharp because of transportation mess on my commute to WFMU. Probably start around 12:15. Apologies!!!!!!

The GTDS can fill in for you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm

We'll be here, in my case hiding next to the air conditioner. Safe travels!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
fred:

I got Rob's premium yesterday and saw his mention of Women who build. This looks like a very cool project: www.regoparkgreenalliance.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
fred:

I guess that's why you went away to be a lumberjack at times
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm
fred:

Yeah!

Ike:

I was on the PATH train last night and there were some insistent but barely-comprehensible automated announcements about... something... happening today. So that sounded like trouble. They probably didn't give much warning of this because if you're traveling on the weekend or late at night, then y'know, go blow yerself Bannon-style, you don't matter, you freak. Or that's what they're thinking, I'm sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
listener james from westwood:

No worries, Mayuko—always worth the wait!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
fred:

@Ike: You make PATH sound like RATP (our local transportation overlords, whose acronym is sometimes rendered as "Rentre avec tes pieds", meaning "just walk home")
Avatar 12:29pm
Mayuko:

Thanks for being here, guys!!!!!!

Ike, E train was running on the F route, F was running on the E route, which made no sense to me to begin with, and neither went to WTC, switched to the R as guided by MTA themselves, and then R rerouted to Q, skipped WTC and took me all the way to Brooklyn. Today's WTC was the castle of Kafka.
Avatar 12:30pm
Mayuko:

AND I left home earlier than usual! MTA officially is the worst.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
fred:

I guess that means nobody is going to pretend or imply they're MTA if they're not. I hope you managed to avoid fake Mr Softees this week
  12:34pm
rbrt:

lol MTA new schedule, get on train get off at random destination
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
fred:

YMO!
  12:35pm

that might actually be fun if you didn't have a specific place to be

I hear Brooklyn is beautiful this time of year - from Dave Hill I believe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm

Nice Chris Watson track
Avatar 12:42pm
Mayuko:

Hi rbrt, Rickwaukee! Thanks for listening!
Yeah, if I didn't have to be on time for the radio, I'd just taken it all the way to Coney Island or something, might as well! At least that place should be beautiful this time of year. Or maybe not, too crowded?
Avatar 12:42pm
Mayuko:

Thanks for checking out that project, fred! Yeah, that was the lumber job. haha!
  12:43pm
Rickwaukee:

Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded -Yogi Berra

yeah I was just thinking about that
  12:50pm
rbrt:

fred heart rolled me lol
Avatar 12:54pm
Mayuko:

I didn't even realize until late last night that the eclipse was gonna happen this Monday. Trying to understand how a holography is created took most of my free time this past week and I couldn't pay much attention to other things.

Hi, folks. At my sister's today and going canoeing on the St. Croix River between MN & WI. Hoping to spot some bald eagles. If there's cell phone coverage, I can stream the show while we're paddling.

@rbrt: nice phrasing, I'm not worthy
  12:55pm
P-90:

Oh good, you're here now, Mayuko! Sorry you had a stressful journey to the station this morning, those of us from big cities all know what that feels like!
Avatar 12:56pm
Mayuko:

Ken! You sound like you're having an amazing summer every weekend!!!
  12:57pm
P-90:

Jersey City by way of Brooklyn? Sounds like the MTA I've known all my life...
  12:58pm
rbrt:

the MTA should provide canoes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
fred:

Do you have a project involving holography? I really would like to see what you would do with that. It doesn't strike me as close to your usual space, so that sounds exciting
Avatar 1:01pm
Mayuko:

P-90! Thanks for tuning in! Yeah, I suppose big city people all know this feeling, except ones from Tokyo... I'm so spoiled by its trains that are never this messed up.
  1:02pm
Rickwaukee:

Ken, WI says welcome. I am in my dark living room with the curtains closed on a beautiful day eating peanuts from the shell like I'm at the Mayuko Music Circus

Oh right, I forgot about the bizarre E-F swap. I always try to check the MTA Weekender page before the weekend but I still get mixed up sometimes, even though I'm *really* good at mazes. Believe it or not, you could have just taken the F to Chambers St. and walked to the WTC from there. But that won't work going the other way! You can take the R the other way! Confused yet? :)

@Rickwaukee I wish you could project this gif image on your wall enlarged with a projector or something in addition to that setting. Though this image has too small resolution.

Apologies, DJ Mayuko, I should have been clear that I meant big cities in the US or Europe. Japan of course is a very modern country and exceptional in many ways...
  1:12pm
Rickwaukee:

Ooooo - that would be sweet! I have it displayed 10 inches across as big as I can get it on my 32" TV/Monitor - I will put my nose right up to it!
Avatar 1:13pm
Mayuko:

@Ike oh my god, what?! wait, didn't the F go to Brooklyn around Canal or something??? Or is it because it was running on the E?
Avatar 1:16pm
Mayuko:

@fred holography art really looks interesting, but my intelligence has to catch up with it first, haha. I'm still struggling to really understand it.
  1:16pm
Rickwaukee:

I'm playing this at volume 11
Avatar 1:17pm
Mayuko:

@P-90 no I think in most part of the world the cities must be having traffic issues, like you said. Tokyo trains are ran by crazy people who are crazy about being on time I suppose.
  1:17pm
rbrt:

yeah I'm really into organ music lately
Avatar 1:17pm
Ike:

Yes, the downtown F was running on the E and then the A all the way to Jay St. in Brooklyn. But it runs normally on the regular F tracks uptown until 47th-50th-Rockefeller and on the E from there. WHY they are doing this, I have NO idea! It says it's for "signal improvements". WHERE?

Today's schedule: My attention span and thus my freelance productivity were dissolved by Cheeto Hitler over the past week so I am taking that cue and spending today reading by the air conditioner and, later, meeting up with friends and boardgaming until the cock crows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
fred:

@Mayuko: That seems worth trying. I wonder how your paper cut aesthetic would transfer to that. Holography is too sanitized for my taste, usually. I think you could bring a lot to that form
