I don't care what anyone says...It's only Rock & Roll is my favorite Stones album. Yeah Exile is unbelievable no doubt, as is such Beggars and such all others but I keep going
Avatar 10:22pm
Sean B.:

...back to this and Goats Head after all else has grown old. Apples and Oranges I suppose.
  10:31pm
phat:

Holy crap, I haven't heard Snapdragons in ages. I think I should probably get this comp.
Avatar 10:31pm
Dave Mandl:

Yeah, Mick Taylor (Stones) was so good.
Avatar 10:33pm
Sean B.:

Ha yeah...good ole Pagey has nothin' on Mick.
  10:38pm

I saw Mick Taylor back in the day with his band. Good and loud.
  10:38pm
cheri:

I think jagger is still king!btw dave what do you think about my last post?
Avatar 10:40pm
Dave Mandl:

@cheri: About Jerry Lewis? Hmmm, not sure I can pull that off tonight.
Avatar 10:40pm
Dave Mandl:

@Carmichael: I think I saw the Stones with Mick Taylor. At MSG in the mid-'70s sometime. I was very young.
Avatar 10:41pm
Mayor Frank Rizzo:

Hello everyone. There was this runaway bull in MA and they shot and killed it tonight. How dumb. Hello everyone. Poor bull. No damage. Nothing.
Avatar 10:43pm
Mayor Frank Rizzo:

What a bummer. Sorry. Play on...
Avatar 10:46pm
Mayor Frank Rizzo:

Walkin' through the wood.
  10:47pm
Carmichael:

Wow, Dave. I saw Taylor post Stones at some odd kind of banquet hall in Sacramento. Great show, but horrid acoustics.
Avatar 10:49pm
Sean B.:

@Carmichael That must have been great man!. A lot of peeps that love the Stones don't realize that Mick brought with him a very nasty and beautiful guitar tone in his rhythm playing. Most people associate Keith to that tone when in fact it's Taylor. As far as his lead playing - THAT takes a full book to explain why it's so great.
Avatar 10:55pm
Mdurek:

well I'll be , Taylor made a guest appearance with the dead.. :)
Avatar 10:57pm
Dave Mandl:

@Mdurek: Huh, I had no idea. What a strange pairing. Or maybe not?
Avatar 11:01pm
Mayor Frank Rizzo:

I was listening to Dr. Demento before u. Cost me $2.
Avatar 11:02pm
Dave Mandl:

@Rizzo: That'll teach you.
Avatar 11:04pm
Sean B.:

This Fat Worm track has a very "Residents" sound/vibe to it
  11:05pm
Carmichael:

Yah, you can hear Roly Poly Fish Heads for free.
Avatar 11:06pm
Sean B.:

I grew up to Dr. Demento on AM radio for free
Avatar 11:07pm
Sean B.:

.....ahhhh those were the days. alas those were the days.
  11:10pm
Carmichael:

We thought they'd never end.
Avatar 11:10pm
Mayor Frank Rizzo:

Me too. Close by my ear. Who was his strong female sidekick? This is pretty music BTW. And let's not forget that Sun Ra complained about escape, but did not leave the void before his disembarkation.
Avatar 11:12pm
Sean B.:

And now I gotta sit here like some mutant scouring the world for great radio on my laptop.
Avatar 11:13pm
Mayor Frank Rizzo:

No Sean B, All you gotta do, is listen to, @WFMU.
Avatar 11:14pm

Dean:

Infrequent listener here, due to assorted other obligations. I'll just point out that Sparks and, to my mind, Traffic, don't get nearly enough regular airplay on WFMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
Bootsie:

Hearing this is making me excited all over again that I'm going to the show in October
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm
Bootsie:

@Dean, can there EVER be enough Sparks?
Avatar 11:40pm
Dave Mandl:

Hi Dean: I'll see what I can do. I've played my share of Traffic, so my conscience is clear. I haven't played much Sparks, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm
Aitch:

Sparks are awesome, great they're still going.
  11:42pm
Dean:

Unstated qualification: "...unless I'm just not tuning into the programs that do play them."

A room- and bandmate of mine from decades ago once auditioned to join Sparks. Didn't get the gig, but still.
Avatar 11:42pm
Dave Mandl:

@Dean: Wow.
  11:43pm
Dean:

In retrospect, yes, wow.

once again dave, thanks for the killer tunes tonight!

Very wow. @Dean

east hollywood:

Wtf?
Avatar 11:52pm
Dave Mandl:

@eh: ?
  11:54pm
Dean:

I think @eh is referring to the segue from DASRB to SM&hM. There was a splat of loud white noise that sounded more like Tod Dockstader than Shelly Manne.
Avatar 11:55pm
ἶkε:

Oh, was that white noise not 91.1 FM going off the air for a couple of seconds? Did those of you streaming hear that too?
  11:55pm
east hollywood:

Actually, I found the Indian song really confusing. Is that ironic? Or would you played it at a pow wow?
  11:55pm
Dean:

streaming, yes
  Swag For Life Member 11:56pm
12539:

Thanks, Mr Mandl without an 'e.'
  11:57pm
Dean:

A must-hear: Clusone Trio's I Am an Indian, Too. An Irving Berlin tune.
  11:57pm
east hollywood:

OK. That explains it. Sorry. Didn't recognize it was from a 20th century musical.
  11:58pm
Dean:

Thank you *very* much. An accidental listener here, happy to have stumbled upon this show.
Avatar 11:59pm
Dave Mandl:

Thanks, all. It's been a pleasure. Have a great week.

Thanks, Dean.
