Listener Robert:

I miss summer. I can't remember when it was so cold in Aug. here in the northeast. I'm sure it has been some time in my life, I just don't remember. There were only about 2 days this year I really missed having an air conditioner, and they came early. The only good thing about the cold now is that it suppresses the mosquitos we got so many of because of all the rain.

Carmichael:

Heya Samantha und Leuten.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm
Michael 98145:

Keep watching the skies - "A canyon-shaped hole has opened in the sun's atmosphere, and it is spewing a stream of high-speed solar wind toward Earth. NOAA forecasters say there is a 30% chance of polar geomagnetic storms (G1-class) when the gaseous material reaches our planet on August 31st. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras this Thursday and Friday."
  9:46pm
Carmichael:

That's pretty heavy, Michael. Solar wind kicking ass on a little nearby planet.
  9:47pm
P-90:

Hi Samantha and Samanthropologists!
  9:48pm

@Michael: So I should take my air conditioner out of the window? Or leave it in?

  10:02pm
Listener Robert:

I've been making my own cider this year, but different yeast from the supermarket this week is acting strangely: slow to start, & is making large-bubble foam. They were out of the yeast I'd used before, this wasn't expired but closer to expiry date than I usually get it.
  10:03pm
Carmichael:

Dang, Faith Healers Rule!
  10:04pm
KP:

Wow. This is going through the walls
  10:04pm
JakeGould:

This is “Faith Healer”: faithhealer.bandcamp.com

@Samantha: You ever hear “Th’ Faith Healers?” I think you would be into them. “Lido” is an amazing album: The Faith Healers Lido

@Carmichael: Local food co-op special. Sheppy's from the U.K. 6.9% alcohol. Tastes like someone dropped menthol mints into a Woodchuck Cider which is a good cider.
  10:09pm
tuskandhusk:

Sometimes the cheap cider is too sweet.
  10:10pm
JakeGould:

Tastes like potential rot gut.
  10:11pm
JakeGould:

Pretty much any cider I try in the U.S. that is not Woodchuck tastes like too many bad ideas. Woodchuck forever.

@JakeGould, you took the words out of my mouth re: th' faith healers and Lido. I just rediscovered that record for the first time in years and it's still a classic! Would totally fit into tonight's set.

  10:39pm
JakeGould:

Box wine is better than most snobs will admit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
coelacanth∅:

there's no inherent reason why wine that has been put in a bag, in a box - to sell quantity and make a lighter shipping - should be lower quality than any other wine.
there's lots of expensive shitty wine, in bottles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm

...now i want some cider. (but i guess i'll have a stout, since that's what i have)
