Alma Cogan was known as "The Girl With the Smile in Her Voice".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

So from the same town in Ontario, there were TWO bands named after Dr. Goldfoot films. The Girl Bombs - all girl surf & garage outfit and in the 80's I was the back up singer for a band called Dr. Goldfoot & The Bikini Machine!
  7:36pm
Brian Phillips:

I KNEW I was grown when I could say that I had seen two Bond films. "Man With the Golden Gun" was the second one I'd seen. Also, Cogan was the "Girl with the GIGGLE in her voice". Oops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
Gaylord Fields:

Alma died way too young! But at least she (allegedly) had an affair with John Lennon beforehand.

Mailman Tom:

I may be going out on a limb here, but I think Dr. Goldfoot is the best song the Supremes ever recorded.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

It sure is a goodie Tom! and Panda is by the window breeze, she wants things quiet and to be alone right now.
  7:48pm
Mom Whig:

I love Shirley Bassey - she's the best bond singer!
  7:49pm
Mom Whig:

Two from her in a row - WOW!
  7:52pm
Mom Whig:

Peter Gunn - I used to watch that TV show!
  7:54pm

1958-61 - all the actors from that show are gone now.

backtracking a bit...back before wfmu was streaming and it was often welcomed to call the dj, i once called a dj to tell her she always sounded like she was about to laugh when she spoke.
- the girl with the smile in her voice.

Hi Glynis. Yesterday, back from a 2 week holiday, I said on the comments board of Sophisticated Boom Boom that I had never heard a vocal version of Peter Gunn before (by Sarah Vaughan). Now I'm listening back to your last shows and it appears you were the first to play it!
