A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

@Pierre-DINERS are ALL OVER New Jersey. Maybe TickTock diner? I think my sister took me there once, it was ok. I think there is one in Clifton, NJ too. www.ticktockdinerny.com OH! If they have deep fried pierogi, try that, they are pretty fucking amazing. They were in this other diner in Allentown, PA anyway.

@Pierre-I LOVE diners, but make sure it is run by Greeks or Poles to be really really really good. I was in a Russian run diner once and it was dirty, but that was in Tannersville, PA so avoid that one.

I just became curious as to what dishes are defined as "american food" - www.cnn.com...
Avatar 11:38am
Wild Neil:

Why Poles? Because Poles taught the French how to cook according to somebody in Poland who told me that.
American foods-Cheeseburger and French Fries with a milkshake?

@The Oscar : yes, yes I did, in a movie festival and I loved it. Thanks for bringing it up.

@Wild Neil : i've heard that this is a very trendy and cool place. well I think we'll try to go and walk there for sure… There is so many thing to see and visit. What about Harlem ? I've dreamed of Harlem since I am a kid.

I don't believe the Tick Tock Diner of NY is related to the NJ one, @WN! Also, did you know about the attempted Tick Tock torture/murder?! State police foiled an evil Tick Tock plot a few years ago!

@Pierre-I would NOT go to Harlem alone at night in 1992. Maybe now its like the Greenwich Village for all I know. If you want to see slums and crack dealers maybe take a cab through the South Bronx ? Still, ask a local here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am
Trouble:

@steveo pies n thighs is not super pricey, it's the real deal. we wandered down by the water while we waited, over by where the old domino sugar factory was, DIY park there now until a giant high rise takes over

Go to the Apollo Theatre maybe? Or a jazz club? I am clueless.
Avatar 11:47am
pierre:

@ annie and Wild Neil : yeah, I imagine it has changed. And well, I wouldn't want to see dealers and slums, but some district that encapsulated what I imagine would be the life of the urban life of New-York. But then again, it's gonna be my first time in the USA, and I'm imagining all of this with the mind of a french guy engorged into american cinema and music :)

And CENTRAL PARK is free! oh and The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the NATURAL HISTORY museum-they are actually free or $0.01 because the donation is "suggested". They HAVE to explain that to you if you ask I think. At least in 1992 they did. You look cheap, but hey if you can you can.
