Richard Bentley  UWL LA.01.007 / Weston Hall, London W5 5NT, UK   Favoriting aporee      After 17 years teaching music technology in computer labs, this is a soundscape I have become very familiar with. Having set the class the task of reworking field recordings recorded by primary children, students busily engage with editing and arranging. Clicks of mice, typing on QWERTY keyboards and hammering on MIDI controller keyboards dominates, with glimpses of the sound worlds the students are inhabiting emanating from headphones every now and again. Occasional rustles of clothing, coughs and sighs are all underpinned by the pulsing drone of the air conditioning. (Matched pair of Sennheiser 8020s and Jecklin to a SD MixPre6)

it was good yeah! It may have been with suicide in NYC before alan vega passed - in which case it was better than good. suicide was amazing. Martin Rev.'s solo stuff is good too - but I heard he was a thief :(

In any case - I <3 Neighbors Noise

A former girlfriend could say "fur" with a wonderful version/demonstration of a Long Island accent. It was her native area, but she was mostly accent neutral.
Avatar 9:26pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

hey still b/p! I wish more people could feel comfortable with regional accents, though I should start with myself I suppose
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm
Webhamster Henry:

My great grandmother pronounced Fur as Fuh, e.g. Fucoat.
Avatar 9:35pm

I love accents from just about everywhere. It's hard not to mimic them when encountering them, but where it does and doesn't slide into mockery is tricky. A friend gets uptight and irked quickly when southern accents are put on with any suggestion or shade of denigration or even inauthenticity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm
Gary:

Oh, I thought I recognized this echo-y piece ... such a great compilation
Avatar 9:36pm
northguineahills:

Just got home, but had to listen to Jim O'Rourke's cover of Ivor Cutlor and Linda Hirst's "Women of the World" to clear myself back to sanity. This works as well. Dajuin Yao, new to me AND ON SUB ROSA?!!!!
Avatar 9:38pm
northguineahills:

My wife has already told me I have a Southern accent already. Compared to others, I don't hear it. But I got the same comment for about 3 years after moving to NYC. Then, when visiting FL, I got the comments that I had a Yankee accent. Go figure.
Avatar 9:41pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

hey northguineahills! welcome to this side of sanity, whichever side it is..

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm
Uncle Michael:

I'M ON PAIN MEDICATION.

HOW ARE YOU?
Avatar 9:48pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Hi Michael! Does that mean you're likely to say something unpredictable?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm
Uncle Michael:

I DON'T KNOW.
Avatar 9:50pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

I like those odds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm
coelacanth∅:

i almost always like hearing different accents. there are 2 exceptions, both of other english speaking countries - not the us. (& one is a particular city area of that country)...but there have been exceptions.
Avatar 9:50pm
Ike:

I wish there was medication that could treat a broken heart. There's always dark chocolate, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm
coelacanth∅:

greetings Uncle M. i hope you're not in pain.
Avatar 9:50pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm
coelacanth∅:

i'm sorry Ike. you'll get through it, and eventually get another cat?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm
Uncle Michael:

Did Ike's cat break his heart?
Avatar 9:53pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

@Ike, Oh no, sorry to hear! Hope things get a little easier with time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm
coelacanth∅:

i'm glad you're in less pain, UM; and sorry you're in more pain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm

Thank you. When this pain goes away I ill enjoy the pain from before this pain being gone for good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm

Avatar 9:59pm

Yep, Zero-G, the amazing zero-gravity cat, floated up to that great scratching post in the sky. Thank you for your thoughts. Grief is bad. But this show was good. Thanks.
