I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Hi northguineahills ! I feel like I hear a lot that people clean their houses during my show. I wonder if it's me or the time slot.

Hellos redkayak, glad to have you here!
Hi Brian! I didn't know "perfusionist". now I see it's really specific occupation! fascinating.

I'm very biased, but Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's choreography has changed the way I hear Steve Reich's music, for the better (for me)

@Rickwaukee thanks! I'll try YELL in the next mic break.
You're right, I did see some old stuff there too. I loved their folk art collection. Now I want to start collecting fish and bird decoys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
listener james from westwood:

@Mayuko: I'm also editing a college textbook about art, and I was interested to see how many of the pieces were in the collections of museums across the Midwest, like the one you visited in Milwaukee. I'm also very psyched to be heading to Chicago in April, where I'll be staying only a few blocks from both that huge Picasso sculpture near the municipal building and the Art Institute of Chicago!
  1:08pm
Rickwaukee:

@Mayuko Some old decoys are VERY valuable. What was the name of that artist you mentioned? Started with G? I'm trying to search Milwaukee Art Museum website for image(s)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
fred:

@Mayuko: I guess it's related, but not a tour exactly. He's doing a performance with Shiro Takatani from Dumb Type. I loved async, so I'm eager to hear/see what this will be like

I realized I had gone on talking a lot about the Come Out piece and never really describe what it looked like! it's a painting repeating the phrases from come out. 11pt5z46nuudt9qxx2knwgff-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com...

Rickwaukee:

Is this fella singing about Mayuko - he just said her name!

@Rickwaukee ah! I'd take small replica decoys then. The piece I really liked there was Robert Gober's suitcase.

One can get into collecting decoys etc w/o spending a ton of $ also.... It's a pretty interesting world. A guy I used to work with was really into to it....
Avatar 1:19pm

@Rickwaukee This song might be singing about me and also it is from the prefecture I was born!

@redkayak oh wowww! those are really beautiful! Makes me wanna put them in a box like they do with insects in boxes at museums.

@Mayuko: I'm crossing my fingers that late April will indeed be a warm-enough time. The conference planners pushed the date forward from late March out of snow fears, but these winters recently, who the hell knows what we'll see 'round the start of May in the Windy City?
Avatar 1:23pm
Mayuko:

@fred dance performance piece makes so much more sense to me if a piece of art is made based on/using his music. I'll watch it after this show!

BTW, in the outside world, Hawaii officials just had to issue a denial regarding a smartphone emergency alert folks on the islands got that a MISSILE was incoming. No missile, false alarm, incredible fuck-up, and yet par for the friggin' course in this bizarre time.
