Now I'm speeding it up in my head, and oh, of course! I'm usually pretty good at picking up musical quotes, allusions, and similarities, but this one eluded me. It has such a different feel, speaking to me of sadness and endurance.

I guess that happens with a lot of music if you play it andante or largo. Like the clever way they did that with "Je Ne Regrette Rien" in "inception".
