Evening, Kim and all!! Hoping the horse crowds treated the town well this weekend.

Doctorjazz:

Hi Kim, the class project sounds really amazing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm
KimSorise:

Hello all! So glad you all tuned in. No idea where I will be taking us tonight so hang tight - but hopefully it will be fun. Yes - DocJazz. It’s is the first time I have worked the mixtape idea this way. The thought and level of intensity that most put into this really took me by surprise a bit. They are an amazing class - but this has been next level. The music is melancholy and happy and a little schizophrenic, a little self-centered, but honest. I feel really honored to see this side of my students. Music does heal the soul.

Jeff Golick:

Lovely stuff.

Doctorjazz:

I can see from my 2 daughters that making significant or cool playlists (for Spotify or similar) is really important to them, programmed around a theme or an idea. Just Mixtapes without the tape...
  7:18pm
Doctorjazz:

I used to do that on tape, then later cd, when I had more energy and time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
KimSorise:

I did too - it was an expression of everything I didn’t quite know how to say or full process at 15. Having the feeling but maybe not the sense of articulation. They use the song as a vehicle for processing the emotion. It’s cartharic, I think.

Doctorjazz:

Hey Jeff, was away yesterday, missed the show, have to check it out in the archives! Saw talk about your move in the comments, how's it going?
  7:24pm
Doctorjazz:

Loved the Dorothy Ashby!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
Jeff Golick:

@doctorjazz: Yah, missed you! We're about to sign the lease...starting to deal with all of the...stuff...trying to wrap our heads around it all. And planning on donating a bunch of CDs to the station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
KimSorise:

Thanks Jeff - welcome. Glad it all went well yesterday.

doctorjazz:

Still going to be in the Slope or Brooklyn? I'm sure you've gotten the CDs ripped to hard drive...
I moved out of Park Slope about 20 years ago, like where we are, but do miss Brooklyn...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
Jeff Golick:

@doc: South slope, about 15 blocks south of where we are now. (Same zip.) Moving weekend of 2/3 June, so no D:O then.

Speaking of...@Kim: feel like doing a Sunday morning fill in?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm
Jeff Golick:

(I'll take this fab four as an answer.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
KimSorise:

I had thought about it - but I work until 4:00 am on Saturdays - most of them anyway. Which date?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
doctorjazz:

Moving the records, CDs and stereo gear was the hardest part of the move to Jersey...the movers gave me looks to kill when they carried the boxes of records, which can be small, but still amazingly heavy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
Jeff Golick:

@Kim: June 3rd.

Just a quick NY political note, @Jeff, if you're going to be in the very weirdly-shaped NY Senate district 20, pls consider voting for Zellnor Myrie for state Senate on 9/13. Sadly I'm less than half a block outside of NY SD20, stuck in slimebag Simcha Felder's zone. NY politics is weird.

aaaaaah, I adore this Welch track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm

HAHHAHAHHA - now that I am hearing this - I cannot believed i Played it but I am so damn happy I did!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm

i know that i wouldn't be enjoying this as much if it weren't so crackly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm

(...that - but maybe this too!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm
KimSorise:

All kinds at all times - I say. It felt good at the time, so I go with it. I love the song at some point in my life... my mom played the hell out of the BW record on 8 track... i remember that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm
Jeff Golick:

Noted, @iiike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm

@iiike: looks like we'll be in SD21....

Is it just my phone, or is any one else getting the clicking sound breaking up the stream?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
KimSorise:

It is clicking on my monitoring of the stream as well - but crystal clear in the studio. Nothing noted on the Nice cast either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
KimSorise:

It seems to have stopped
Avatar 8:44pm
northguineahills:

yeah, it's fine now!

I still hear it but that might be my auditory hallucinations acting up again... did you say clicking or quacking?
  8:46pm

Never mind it's just Delbert the evil duck that follows me around sometimes. Carry on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm

Refresh your player and it should be okay - if not the duck is closer than you thought
