I was just about to say that's the graphic to Merzbow's album cover, "Pulse Demon" (Why yes, I have a lot of Japanese noise).

I saw Solmania open for Sonic Youth in '98. I got a shirt that said "Loud Guitars Saves Live" That shirt was retired by my wife in 2008....

I'm following the A's game as I listen to this. I wondered what would happen if a MLB player chose one of these tunes as a "walk-up song", to be played when he's coming up to bat...

I haven't been in the mood for noise tonight, but I've always had a soft spot for Violent Onswn Geisha. Tuning in for a bit. I'll save the rest of this archive for my next bad day at work. (I don't get complaints, just a lot of the standard "What the fuck are you listening to" stares.)

Testing myself with hardcore NOOOOIOOOOISE yeahhhhhhhhhh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
coelacanth∅:

i'm usually in the mood for noise, but i wont subject myself to consistent high frequencies for more than a few seconds. i know it's very harmful to me (and all people) so maybe it's my mind exaggerating it but it's extremely irritating to me. i turned off the show before. i think it was still the last track - but this one is on the borderline! it's not consistent but it's got very high frequencies most of the time. the worst thing for your hearing, aside from extreme volume.
Avatar 9:28pm
northguineahills:

This is definitely not a bookmark....;)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm
Gary:

IIIIIIIIIIIIIke!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm
coelacanth∅:

(actually this track has moved away from those frequencies now, mostly)
Avatar 🇰🇷 Swag For Life Member 9:30pm
chresti:

yeah-small, quiet, doses. This track has some breaks in the intensity
Avatar 9:31pm
northguineahills:

If it's not giving me tinnitus, I'm ok (ok, maybe even w/ the tinnitus). I think only Ryoji Ikeda uses frequencies that hurt my head, but I enjoy it all the same (especially seeing him live or is multi-media installations).

I'll be away doing chores. Keep playing! Merzbow is infamous for producing albums where the usual frequency and volume safeguards are eliminated (alway start w/ your speakers low to see if they can handle it).

i spent weeks on a 78 minute droney bedtime piece once and after i thought it was what i wanted noticed a high frequency that i guess was an overtone of one of the keyboard settings i used. much like the one playing right now. i threw out the first 25 minutes of the piece.
