	7:22pm northguineahills: I found this Kraftwerk album w/o a cover, but in a sleeve, in the charity shop my mother runs for her county as a volunteer. It was odd, as they usually only have clothes and food, but when I was 21, I dug around and found it, and knew I hit the jackpot! (I didn't even knew this album existed at the time). (In HS I was really into weird polyester 70s fashion that it would get from all the donation from the dying old people).

	7:29pm northguineahills: All of my Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Tomita, etc, and Space's "Fly"came from thrifts stores for $.50-$1 a pop.
	7:30pm northguineahills: I had a friend buy a funky velvet coat in a thrift store in NYC, and find an 8-ball of blow. (probably had been there for since the 70s)

Usually when you encounter releases on Мелодия in the wild it's schlager and the like. sort of crazy to think of this masterpiece on the same label USSR label but Grünberg is Estonian, btw. currently Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Institute of Buddhism
	9:23pm coelacanth∅: i started seeing hummingbirds early this year, when barely anything was blooming yet, but strangely haven't seen them much lately. they love the beebalm which is right by the house. i've had extremely close encounters.

	9:28pm still b/p: Saw this today, about a hummingbird encountered in a greenhouse: "...thrusting his sharp self into the flowers with electrical rapidity (I hate the metaphor, but it gives something of the instantaneousness and the jeweled violence)..."

	9:36pm coelacanth∅: sbp that validates my concern when a hummingbird is hovering directly in front of my face, making sudden advancements of a few inches to over a foot, toward me... which has happened more than once. (in locations 75 miles away from each other) i always move slightly when they get within 2 feet, not knowing how quickly they can thrust their sharp selves into my eye or something.

	9:38pm melinda: I haven't seen a hummingbird in several years, poor habitat I guess. I did have one land on my shirt pocket 20+ years ago, always hope for another encounter. My glasses would protect me from eye damage.

	9:46pm melinda: @b/p I haven't seen any feeders, I have a regular feeder I've been meaning to put up for years. Other birds stopped showing up too when a new neighbor moved in and cut down a lot of plantings on the other side of my fence. The pocket landing happened as I was about to enter a shopping mall and a poor disoriented bird flew out, I think it needed to get its bearings. At first it was icky because I thought it was a giant bug, then I realized what it was.
	9:49pm melinda: It's fun to imagine that I am a magical hummingbird magnet.

	9:49pm coelacanth∅: wow - well i guess you didn't swat it. there have been a couple of times i had to curse my quick reflexes, after swatting a firefly or a ladybug that landed on me, before seeing what it was.

	9:51pm still b/p: Love the soft light-saber sounds of flight when one shows up. A former boss had an intact one he claimed to have found in the freezer in the company's garage. Said it must have flown in when he stepped away with freezer door open, geting trapped when he closed it. Never sure about that story.

	9:52pm melinda: @flash I agree, thought I haven't seen the fierce side. They do remind me of stealth military aircraft.

	10:09pm coelacanth∅: there's a mexican restaurant i eat at with outdoor seating and if i'm alone the birds will come onto my table for pieces of tortilla chips. i've sat still enough with one between my fingers that one would've taken it from me. it was about to but i decided i shouldn't encourage them to do that and tossed it to it. - had similar experiences with deer and apples.

It was odd, as they usually only have clothes and food, but when I was 21, I dug around and found it, and knew I hit the jackpot! (I didn't even knew this album existed at the time). (In HS I was really into weird polyester 70s fashion that it would get from all the donation from the dying old people).

(in locations 75 miles away from each other) i always move slightly when they get within 2 feet, not knowing how quickly they can thrust their sharp selves into my eye or something.

Other birds stopped showing up too when a new neighbor moved in and cut down a lot of plantings on the other side of my fence. The pocket landing happened as I was about to enter a shopping mall and a poor disoriented bird flew out, I think it needed to get its bearings. At first it was icky because I thought it was a giant bug, then I realized what it was.
