JtotheK: Yeah...I got real lucky with those come ups..20 years ago and they were still pretty pricey. I have the counterpoint collection on vinyl too that came out in the 90's and I think that goes for $$ too!

Avatar 2:23pm

Kat: Aw man..I'm actually in LA during that time..I'm playing when in out there:). I generally post all my DJ happenings on my IG page..have fun while you're here!
Avatar 2:24pm
Jshatan:

I Just googled that Laura Lee song because it's so good! Written by Holland-Dozier - not sure who the backing band was, though. Probably a lot of Motown dudes...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
Kat in Chicago:

I will, Duane! Have fun in LA! I'll be at the Kenny G thing that just got moved from Wednesday to Saturday, hope to maybe meet some comments board types there. I might be able to come to polka too
Avatar 2:30pm
slugluv1313:

@ Jshatan -- Laura Lee is awesome! and if you can get your hands on her "Women's Love Rights" album, do it! (i am guessing it must have been re-issued at some point???)
as i am STILL kicking myself for not getting the LP when it first came out! (ok i could not have been more than 12 or 13 -- and i never had an allowance from my parents but i would spend my lunch money on records instead of lunch hah)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Kat in Chicago:

No allowance? :( mine went to records for sure
Avatar 2:31pm

This is some classic deep house shit here. Love the bassline.

@ Kat in Chicago -- LOVE that radio! and welcome to NYC!!!
i think i had a transistor radio from Sinclair gas stations? i remember the little green dinosaur on the front panel :)
and no, no allowance! my parents did not believe in that sort of thing -- they grew up during the Depression, really tough early lives
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm
Kat in Chicago:

OMG I remember that little green dinosaur logo. Never saw a radio with their brand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm
Michael 98145:

my first radio probably came from Sears
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
