Evening! Fripp and Eno seems like an odd choice for Avant G. Not complaining or saying it doesn't fit. Just unexpected. Hope everyone's doing well.

I was waiting for someone to say the Durutti Column was weird, shows what I know....

Mornin' Jeff - LOVE Fripp and Eno so much. Bought a bootleg tape in High School of what I found out was one of their only live outings in Paris...wish I still had that tape. I guess it was booted on vinyl too at some point?
Avatar 12:35am
Jeff Conklin:

Dunno if there's a vinyl boot but its definitely online

Laughing out loud here. Great story. I had the opposite experience once at a small Fred Frith show. Fred played along with my friend and I kicking our plastic cups over. Used it as a jumping off point to shift the music around.

I once had a coughing fit at a solo flute recital (James Galway) at Carnegie Hall...I was in the middle of the row. It was a long, humiliating escape...still cringing from that one.

I will never tire of the Fripp story

i was just playing this on my guitar about 20 minutes ago

Jeff, yes, you've told it here. I can't remember how long ago. It's a good one. Bears repeating.

Once you've opened the Doritos bag how can you not eat a chip?

Franco Twinkie:

That's a good one Jeff! I had a similar thing happen at McCabes in Santa Monica, when a friend and myself went to see Tom Verlaine. McCabes only serves tea and coffee. We snuck in some tall boys which we cracked at the exact right/wrong moment. You'de think we farted in church the way the crowd reacted. But, unlike Mr. Fripp, Tom didn't seem overly put out. Plus he doesn't do Q&A's

Jeff, after several years of catching the your show on west coast time, stoked to be hearing your dead picks while safely within the confines of the garden state

Not sure it sounded any better, but there was surely something magical about being able to listen to the show from until midnight and still get a full night’s sleep before any real obligations :). I’ll be paying for this one at work tomorrow, but I’d been missing the ritual of this show. Cheers and glad the 3-hour show has been restored along with the dead sets
Avatar 1:36am
Jeff Conklin:

@Mia: That's rough. Yet another reason to never attend a solo flute performance ;)

@Daniel: Right on, I guess it's just because i hate the NYC metropolitan area I say these things. This show is my weekly escape to open spaces...

What's cool about WT (and a lot of modern bands I'm fond of) is that they draw from a very different well of influences beyond the GD. As a rule, modern jambands are awful
