Mr Fab:

merci to Otis and friends. And I can't believe you really are playing "Smart Girls" noooo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm
Dutchman Jan:

starting with a smashing mash-up
Avatar 6:03pm
Don-O:

I think it was either me or Otis would be the first to blast this bad boy.

Rich in Washington:

Oh wow! This is amazingly craptacular! Never heard it before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm
Webhamster Henry:

Brian in his Brian phase. Hey Barbie!
Avatar 6:04pm
Don-O:

It was from Brian's unreleased 2nd solo album. and now you know why it remains unreleased.
Avatar 6:04pm
Mr Fab:

This was co-written by Brian Wilson's evil psychiatrist Eugene Landy. I actually have an autographed copy of his slang guide "The Underground Dictionary."

Unreleased? Who let it out? Seeing the opening of The Stand, some guy escaping a clean room with it, driving cross country, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm
Rich in Washington:

ooo! I've heard of that, the album with Landry. I must check that out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm
Rich in Washington:

Landy.
Avatar 6:07pm
Don-O:

Apparently, the album was put out as a promo tape and then the master tape got stolen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm
Dutchman Jan:

That happens a lot

Rich in Washington:

Oh, that Duke of Madness Motors set is wonderful, isn't it. A treasure trove of audio mayhem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm
Rich in Washington:

This might be the episode that sparked a minor riot at the station when we aired it a few years back.
Avatar 6:19pm
Don-O:

I have YET to get halfway through that monster!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm
Webhamster Henry:

I learned a lot from the Firesigns.
Avatar 6:19pm
Mr Fab:

Why was that Rich, what happened?
Avatar 6:20pm
Don-O:

Riot!?!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
Asheville Jon:

riot the unbeatable high
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm
Rich in Washington:

Long story short: I edited these shows for airplay when the DVD came out, with the group's blessing. When this one aired, some irate volunteer at the station took exception to the group's yellowface depictions in one bit.
He proceeded to burst into the air room and interrupted the broadcast. A weird heated discussion ensued on air with the guy and my friend who was manning the board before resuming the show.
The guy ended up being bodily ejected from the station and barred from returning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
Rich in Washington:

I have an aircheck of the 'episode' somewhere. It's pretty bizarre.
Avatar 6:23pm
Don-O:

....umm, sensitive guy?......
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm
Rich in Washington:

Sensitive white activist guy. We actually had a discussion about the very thing BEFORE it happened with Pete Bergman, the sensitivity of some listeners, etc...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm
Rich in Washington:

This Subgenius show is great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm

I sure miss hearing Philo on Puzzling Evidence.
Avatar 6:30pm
Mr Fab:

i have a CD from the self-descriptive "The Annoying Music Show" that is interspersed with similar phone calls from disgruntled listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm
Rich in Washington:

I've got that too. Did I get it from you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm
Rich in Washington:

I sort of like getting calls from upset people. I mean, I don't LOVE it, but sometimes their rage or annoyance is so misplaced, out of proportion. It's slightly gratifying.
Avatar 6:32pm
Don-O:

Just the title sounds interesting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
Rich in Washington:

I've found that people can get upset if you play weird, fucked up covers of Beatles songs.
Avatar 6:34pm
Mr Fab:

No, I got it from another blog

This is like your uncle Earl cuts a record in a drugstore with a calliope record playing in the background.
Avatar 6:37pm
Mr Fab:

There used to be a free-form show on San Diego's 91x that followed a reggae show. The first thing they played one night was Count Floyd of SCTV's "Reggae Christmas Eve in Transylvania." They then came on the air and apologized to all the reggae fans who were offended! One can only imagine the calls they were getting...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh man. Reggae just totally dominated community radio in the 90s. Brave move.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm
Rich in Washington:

never apologize for playing Bukowski. I love his readings. I love his Hostage. It's half poetry record, half party record.
Avatar 6:41pm
Mr Fab:

You'd think they'd have a better sense of humor smokin all that ganja...
Avatar 6:43pm
Don-O:

This is appearance #2 in the Hotwalker CD. #3 was his 'Coda'. One hell of a send off!
Avatar 6:45pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I was always scared to live-remix Beatles stuff but that never stopped me. And then to my surprise, my own mother (claims to) enjoy the mixes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Rich in Washington:

Hi Kenzo! in all the years of doing radio, my mom's never heard any of my shows. I think she's scared!
