A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

When art got weird, they called it Modern due to a lack of imagination, then all of a sudden "Modern" art was fifty years old so they needed a new term. They should have just called it Contemporary while it was being produced and then eventually come up with something thoughtful, but who dare call the intelligentsia foolish.

The most distinctive aspect of the Modern Art era, as opposed to the Post-Modern era, or any other for that matter, is the fascination with the future. Think of 1950's consumerism and late 19th century Science Fiction. These things are now "Modern" forever.

Steveo, I'm calling it egg in a frame. I'm not going to let "the man" (that's you, in this case) tell me what to do.

Duncan Browne's GIVE ME TAKE YOU is one thing, and the DUNCAN BROWNE LP is another. Stating the obvious to keep it alive, Will from Pawtucket RI

Same here, queems. That LP set (Technicolor Paradise) is HIGHLY recommended by me. I grabbed one when it came out last year and have been enjoying it since. I've probably raved on about it here before, but it really is gold.

@Queems: you're probably already aware of this, but the Explorer's Room program on the Drummer stream very often features heavy doses of exotica:

It's all I have steveo. I'm a rebel. When it comes to naming egg dishes. Other than that I'm pretty much an obsequious push over.

@Ven the playlists aren't secure because there's no reason for it -- Chrome (and maybe other browsers) have been adding messaging to encourage site administrators to always use secure protocols (https). You'll see that if you go the homepage and click donate, you'll get the lock icon instead, because there it's important that you know who you're connected to.
