This week:
The Brown Goose, the White Case Knife, Ora’s Speckled Bean, Radiator Charlie’s Mortgage Lifter — these are just a few of the heirloom fruits and vegetables you’ll learn about from farmer Bill Best. Best has worked tirelessly to preserve genetic diversity and the flavors rooted in the Southern Appalachian Mountains for over 50 years. He has collected over 1400 varieties of bean seeds, bringing back some from the brink of extinction. Bill shares with us his passion for collecting and preserving heirloom seeds along with sharing some family stories that are a fundamental part of keeping history alive and tasting delicious.
