Would be cool if the Weather dude himself dropped in...
Avatar 6:00pm
Don-O:

That would force him to be more sociable outside this confines of his house.

I remember hearing this late one night on the radio and wondering what the hell it was.

Hello wonderful world of the Weatherman!!

I love this CD. It's so much fun. In those pre-broadband days, it was the only way to experience OTE, short of buying cassettes from Don J.

This was JUST posted today by David. It's in honor of Richard Lyons birthday....and 2 years since he died. www.negativland.com...

Nice. And a fitting tribute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm
Otis Fodder:

Still have my OTE Weatherman cassette.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm
Rich in Washington:

Me too! I have all my early OTE cassettes but somehow lost my Pastor Dick tape. I think whoever stole Muriel's money took it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm
Rich in Washington:

That History of Wallpaper is hilarious. Richard was ahead of his time, in terms of humor. They played bits of it on OTE on the tribute show right after he passed away but it's nice to hear the whole thing.

Mark Hosler flat out refuses to explain the origin of the phrase Seat Bee Sate. I asked him in an interview once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm

Don-O and I met through our adoration for Negativland!
Avatar 6:14pm
Don-O:

A couple of years ago, I took the cassette and 2001 re-issued CD edition (included the full version of Van Man) and made a 3 1/2 Dick Vaughn version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm
Rich in Washington:

I still wanna hear Balderdash.
Avatar 6:15pm
Don-O:

I think Seat Bee Sate was explained in the Weatherman Dictionary in the Come Out Line CD set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
Rich in Washington:

I am hoping someone gets around to digitizing the original OTE episodes with Moribund Music of the 70s. I understand that many of the 80s episodes are not on tape. I don't know if the effort's still going on but I remember hearing that a large box of un-digitized episodes were unearthed fairly recently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
Otis Fodder:

Need to pull out 10-8 to play, classic fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. I don't have that CD, just the cassette.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm
Otis Fodder:

Free is so very good too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm
Rich in Washington:

Free is good. I actually bought mine at a Negativland show when they just put it out.
Avatar 6:19pm
Don-O:

I got my 10-8 CD with all the extras and dried leaves. If you ordered the CD during summer, you got lawn clippings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm
Otis Fodder:

Still have my 10-8 LP from the late 80s. I had the bark, no clue what happened to it. But my VHS tape of No Other Possiblity still has a bird feature in there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm
Rich in Washington:

Yeah. Mine had the grass. My (then) wife threw it away. She just thought it was a bag of grass in my closet (in a little ziplock bag of the extras)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
Rich in Washington:

I still have my feather too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm
Rich in Washington:

I wish I had a No Other Possibility bumper sticker. I put mine on my old Mercury and then I sold it to someone and they eventually totalled it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
Rich in Washington:

I love the rumor that The Edge paid for the production of Free. Not sure if it's true, but it's funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
Otis Fodder:

Maybe the bark was a bay area thing? I dunno. Got it at Rasputins in Berkeley, must have been 87 or 88, right after I discovered Escape and got turned on to this madness.

I'm a looooser, I need to take off to see a friend bout some movie time and popcorn. I'll be jumping back in on archives on Sunday Don-O & Rich. Happy weekend fellows!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm

See you, Otis! Have a great weekend!

This was one of the first things I remember downloading off of Napster.

A site crammed with U2 interviews had the full Mondo 2000 interview, but the audio link had disappeared years ago. Damnit!

  6:37pm
Martinibomb:

Where is it? I wish I knew what to do. I still haven't found it.
Avatar 6:38pm
Mr Fab:

Yep. one of my first napster downloads, too.

A friend of mine fund out that "U2" was being recalled, drove all over town til he finally found a copy.
Avatar 6:38pm
Linda Lee:

i'll be jiggered!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm
Rich in Washington:

I actually started using Formula 409 because of Negativland.
I don't anymore, though. I noticed that it kills insects faster than insecticide, so I figured it's probably not safe for my household.
  6:38pm
Martinibomb:

Google says Jiggered is.. "mid 19th century: from jigger1; its use to mean ‘exhausted’ is probably euphemistic for buggered ."
Avatar 6:39pm
Don-O:

I bought THAT single about a week before the crap started and it got pulled.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm
Rich in Washington:

I love this album so much. It's just amazing. The editing on bits of it are just mind-pummeling.
  6:39pm
Martinibomb:

And if you don't know what buggered means well you've answered your own question.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
Rich in Washington:

Me too! I also later bought a CD of it and it has the serial number carefully dremelled off. I read that thousands of them were recalled to be destroyed, so this was likely resold by someone who nabbed a bunch of them from a warehouse or something.
Avatar 6:41pm
Mr Fab:

Oh man, So many great Weatherman tracks. They're just all so
Very! Stupid!
Very! Stupid!
Very! Stupid!
Avatar 6:42pm
Don-O:

I'm still trying to remember which was my first Negland CD; one of the two first SST titles. The counter guy at Hi-De-Ho Comics in Venice Beach was playing a OTE tape. After he told me what it was, I headed next door to Penny Lanes and got my first. Three years later, I took over NegativBob Negfan zine and...well, it's been all downhill since.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm
Rich in Washington:

I need to buy the CD/DVD version of this. It's got that entire VHS of No Other Possibility on it and a bunch of other stuff, I believe.
Avatar 6:43pm
Linda Lee:

perfection. love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm
Rich in Washington:

My first Negativland thing was Escape From Noise. I had no idea who they were until that point. I'd heard lots of their stuff on KBOO on random late night DJ's shows, but had no idea who they were. But then I became absolutely fanatical about them.
Avatar 6:45pm
Mr Fab:

Yes, SST introduced me to them as well, w/"Escape From Noise." They were pretty obscure before then, but SST got 'em on every college station in the land. I still maintain that "Helter Stupid" is as good as sound-collage gets. Never get tired of it.
Avatar 6:46pm
Linda Lee:

i'm not sure there's any better way to hear this outside surprise..
Avatar 6:47pm
Don-O:

Personal, it's better with headphones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm

I love this part.

I'm being schooled on Negland and Weatherman here, but I need to get ready for an interview for my other (non music) show. Thanks Don-O!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh yes, Mr. Fab. The Perfect Cut side is the pinnacle.
Avatar 6:54pm
Don-O:

The Cut tracks was the first time I noticed that you can break down the past for fun and examination....and then came the Moribund Music o' the 70's. I sure made the 70's nostalgia craze of the 90's more bareible (sic).
Avatar 6:56pm
Don-O:

BTW, I posted a short video of the groups appearance in the SubGenius' Night Of Slack in 1984 somewhere in the Snuggles FB group.....and, yes, HIS was there in person.
