You know, I have been casually researching all kinds of fortune, luck and astrology stuff over the past few months… Symbolism, meanings and all that… And honestly I found a common conclusion: It’s all comforting and seductive bullshit. Fun in it’s own “conversation starter” way but still.

Maybe I should talk to Keano for more wisdom?

@Jake: To each their own. Myself - I think it's like most human endeavors: You get as much from it as you're willing to devote to its' depths. (Does one even know about one's entire BirthChart, for example?) Astrology for instance is one of Humanity's oldest endeavors - & people are just now translating many of the Ancients - learning Greek & Latin & Arabic just to do it - & so on... As for reconciliation w/ the awlmighty Religion of SCIENCE (voiced in yer best ThomasDolby exclamation) - I go to Jung in one sense - & Chaos Theory/Fractal Geometry/Systems Behavior studies - if I care to be concerned about it... More things in heaven & earth - as somebody well-versed in Astrology in an era when many Cosmologies were shifting once remarked... What it all might Mean in terms of grander Philosophical 'considerations' (which is literally: by the stars, btw) - rabbit holes on rabbit holes...

I was just reading an article this morning about how people used to fall off fire escapes all the time when sleeping out there before air conditioning. Now it's mostly just drunk college students and curious toddlers. The first Black Jean Valjean on Broadway fell to his death from a bedstuy fire escape the day after the play closed just a few years ago.

Oh, FWIW I find magic, symbolism and luck entertaining. But just stand on the edge of taking it seriously. I like it for what it is on a superficial level, not the depth others see. I am fascinated with the aesthetics. Aesthetics it shares with religions and gambling and games of chance.
