I listened to the archive of the July 1 show. The Joni Mitchell clip said ‘60s antiwar folks put down Vietnam soldiers. Historians have mostly debunked this. The antiwar movement reached out to G.I.s, starting antiwar folk coffeehouses outside bases; there was a G.I. antiwar movement /in/ the military. Joni’s a brilliant musician, but a historian? nah.

When I saw MBV in 2012, I refused to wear earplugs, I was nearly deaf for two days, but it was worth it....

Judas Priest. 1984. Norfolk Scope (terrible sound in there). Went to Taco Bell afterwards & couldn't hear what the lady was saying. Definitely did some ear damage that night.

@Franco: My ex-roomates long term ex-gf played drums in Crash Worship. When he told me, she seemed liked such a nice normal girl. Then I saw them play.....

A distant #2 would be Nick Cave at The Wiltern. At this point in my life I had seen/heard so many bands, I was a little crispy around the edges and decided it was time to cut back.

Hey Marshall Stacks (apt handle!) - you and me both with Dino Jr - although I could make out the songs, it was just J's guitar was mind-numbingly loud...and I was in a small basement bar!

Also loudest: Beastie Boys (with Cypress Hill & Rollins Band) at the Sportatorium in Dallas (where the Von Erichs et al would wrestle). Supposed to be no smoking but people smoked ciggies in the concourse but weed in the arena. Ricky Powell got on stage before the Boys and asked if anyone had a joint and probably 100-150 joints flew on stage. Ears were ringing for 3-4 days after..... Have to agree with the Crash Worship, Stickmen, and Black Flag shows being up top of the list too...

"Moving Sidewalks" is the horizontal inverse of "Floor Elevators".
