Beats mismatched. New mystic moods. The International Style. Pressed and dressed. Queasy listening. New ways to fail. More is more. Backroom room tones.

Jesse Dorris:

Yeah, it's pretty great! I don't know much about Marco apart from that he put a wonderful thing or two out on Lobster Theremin awhile back....
Avatar 3:13am
Jesse Dorris:

Hey Ben!
  3:16am
Mark R:

MMmm, lobster theremin sounds tasty right now. I'm really hungry for some reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22am
fred:

When I saw Radio Eris years ago, the theremin player got shocked several times (I guess because of a faulty adapter). Maybe he should have considered a lobster
  3:23am
Mark R:

Nomadia's pretty groovy too, innit?
Avatar 3:26am
Jesse Dorris:

It's a real perfumed buffet.
  3:27am
Mark R:

Missed this one in 1983, I must confess. I was probably on the stuff--my senses were dulled.
Avatar 3:33am
ausmanx:

hey fred, how are you? was chatting about the GRM in North Sydney yesterday and was thinking about you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39am
fred:

hey ausmanx! We're getting into that dreadful boring time called summer, when not much is happening over here. And as usual I have plenty of vacation time I'll have to use in August. Not happy about that, but working for free goes against my principles. (I don't know much about GRM actually, I work at IRCAM and don't even know all that much about it)
Avatar 3:41am
ausmanx:

yep, there are things one chooses to do for free, and for everything else people should be appropriately remunerated. i thought things were busy over summer, until august when the whole of france shuts down?
  3:42am
Mark R:

Now I'm starting to think I hear somebody walking around.
Avatar 3:45am
Jesse Dorris:

Could be, Mark! Don't turn around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46am
fred:

@ausmanx: The shutdown starts in July, and it's at its peak from mid July to mid August. Also mid-December to mid-January. We seem to like shutdown mode. There used to be outdoors festivals in Paris, but terror paranoia put an end to that (also the fact that now organizers have to pay for police/military deployment)
Avatar 3:48am
ausmanx:

well, i haven't been in paris for a couple of years but i was shocked at the number of uniforms walking around carrying semi-automatic weapons. here they shut down festivals on the pretext of moral panic over drugs
Avatar 3:49am
ben abs:

Paris is a dream during shut down, pretty much deserted
Avatar 3:52am
Jesse Dorris:

@fred, yes, I was in Paris last January and it was militarized like crazy. And foggy. The former caught me off guard but the latter was soothing, as was the calm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54am
fred:

@ben abs: not that much, tourists are everywhere and the subway and buses are just as crowded as usual. Then again I work in the center, prime tourist territory
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56am
fred:

The real time to be in Paris is usually in April, when Sonic Protest is happening
Avatar 4:01am
ausmanx:

fred, might get over again next year, with luck. will let you know. little travel this year, for a change. was discussing GRM as i spent the afternoon with ariel kalma, we'll do a gig with him next year. and we have mr ambarchi next month, first time!

I saw in the newsletter a picture of the old box of pain, it was tied with rope and wrapped up. Did you mail it somewhere if so where?
