Whoah! Never thought I'd hear The Renegades here. Even though they were from Birmingham, UK, they were the Finnish Beatles as it were as their glory days were spent here and they did cause a lot of teenage hysteria.

CC:

Happy Tuesday everyone... digging the tunes Matt...keep em comin'!!!

Avatar 6:43pm
Mod Mokka Matti:

@huomenta: Eeek!! Sorry, I should have stated I'm an American Finn, who sadly, has yet to achieve fluency in the ancestral tongue. :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Matt Clarke:

@huomenta: I still need to read that book about them. On the long list
Avatar 6:48pm
huomenta:

no worries Mokka Matti, it is indeed one of the most difficult languages in the world and I wonder how many US Finns do speak it nowadays... I am not that patriotic anyway but a bit curious.
Avatar 6:49pm
huomenta:

thanks for the reminder matt, I have completely forgotten about that book!
Avatar 6:53pm
huomenta:

and thanks for your saturday singles going steady set, I had a good time listening to it!
Avatar 6:54pm
Mod Mokka Matti:

@huomenta I'm in the Pacific Northwest of the US, where there's still an active group of American Finns in the greater Seattle area, who seem to keep the language alive - I also understand there were a number of native Finns that came over to work in the Tech sector here, so that added some new blood and interest. There's still a Finnish Lutheran church there, and even the University of Washington has courses in Finn. Those skills in my own family ended with my Grandparents.
Avatar 6:55pm
huomenta:

actually really interesting, thanks for that info Matti.
