Listener Robert:

The line from "Hungry Man", "Duncan Hines has got nothing on me," caused me to chuckle and prompted my friend Bob here to ask who Duncan Hines was. I told him I think I have one of his travel guides in the garage, and of course Bob knew about the cake mixes, but then my curiosity got the best of me and I dropped dinner to look up his Wikipedia entry and then go a link beyond. Interesting story of someone who late in life, as a byproduct of other business, made such a name for himself -- and was alleged to be a jerk.

He performed this song at just about every show in the last year or so of his life, but I don't think it ever sounded better than it did here, playing acoustic guitar sitting on a stool on a white set.

Back around the time Aretha died I heard the most amazing live track of her singing Bridge Over Troubled Water at the Fillmore, from 1971 I think, She was jamming away on the organ as well, never knew she was such a talented keys player.

lothianman:

beyond fantastic to hear some non mainstream stuff from her. Definitely increases the appreciation factor. THanks Matt !!
