more Krauty rock. Therese played some earlier, as well

Evening all. i can make fun of Dead and Co because I like them. The "Dead & Slow" joke is played. Still love you though, Chris.

I mean she played some Krautrock earlier. Neu and someone else.

Chris Wardell:

Yes, you’re correct. It is played out and I like Dead and Co as well. I saw them at Wrigley last summer, and I really wanted to hear Terrapin Station. My wife was pregnant with my son, so she said, rub my belly and let Micah know you want to hear that song. Sure enough, they opened with it. Sweet story, I know. They’re great and older, so a slower pace is to be expected.
Avatar 10:13pm
Jeff Conklin:

They played Terrapin at the show I saw this summer and I wasn't feeling it at all.

Dead jokes don't even come close to Telemann jokes.

Some of those jokes date back to Ancient Greece — see Icarus and Deadalus.

This sounds a lot like 69-70 Mothers of Invention, especially the wah guitar solo which was very Zappaesque to my ears.
Avatar 10:23pm
Jeff Conklin:

Yeah Zappa was a big influence on the Swedes
Avatar 10:24pm
TDK60:

I thought I heard some similarity to Miles' keyboardists from round then too.
  10:25pm

Coked our 70s Dead sounds so weird slowed down, it’s factual
Avatar 10:26pm

You mean playing 70s dead tapes slowed down?

When I saw it was going to be an all Swedish/Danish show tonight, I thought for sure it was going to be a Roxette tribute. Boy was I wrong so far...
Avatar 10:28pm
Jeff Conklin:

You didn't think that, even for a second.

Art in Van:

Have the chance to see Terry with his son in the new year. Trying to scrape up the cash for a ticket. Seems worth it to catch him while he’s still at it. This track is doing some convincing :)
  10:33pm
berlusconi"s nose:

Awesome! Terry Riley and Don Cherry! I had no idea that they ever played together...
Avatar 10:33pm
Jeff Conklin:

I've never seen him. Besides Dylan, the last "biggie" I should go see before its too late
  10:35pm

Anyone else (in NYC) seeing Riley on Friday?

saw him before with his son. He was just reading from his diary
  10:38pm

Jeff- no but that’s a great idea

@strange songs, cool I’m in Sacramento.

Samla Mammas Manna >> Parson Sound >> Arbete och Fritid >> Culpeper's Orchard >> Roxette >> Alrune Rod is my guess for the second set lol

MR OH YEAH:

jeff, we gonna get some NRPS tonite...? ;)
Avatar 10:42pm
Jeff Conklin:

No NRPS tonight, soon though. Got some fresh live stuff I'm psyched about..
  10:42pm
daves:

You should, Jeff. I saw him last spring with his son at lpr, and especially his solo stuff at the piano was killer.
He was also brilliant at the Bang on a Can marathon in 2018, which was some (very funny) reading of diaries, and some extremely inspired solo work at the piano
  10:47pm
Carmichael:

The most astonishing and the worst concert I saw were both Dylan.
  10:51pm
Old Dave:

Please go on, Carmichael- first album I bought as a kid was Desire but never saw him live.
Avatar 10:53pm

good evening, Jeff and everyone
really melting in to this Blue Sun piece :)
  10:58pm
Carmichael:

1st time he was just going through the motions, like ha ha a beef with the promoter. Short set, snarky goodbye etc ... that was around ‘75. Saw him again ‘82 or so, and he poured his heart out, mostly acoustically. He stunned me.
Avatar 11:05pm
MR OH YEAH:

the inner machinations of Bobs mind are enigma. Of this much I am assured.
  11:07pm
Old Dave:

Carm- well, no other Dylan album spoke to me like Desire. But was that him or the girlfriend I had then and my frame of mind?
  11:08pm
Carmichael:

Boy, this violin sounds like Swarbrick. And the vocals sound like Beausoleil.
  11:08pm
Cavalier Record Store:

This fiddle playing sounds like the lady who played with Bob on the Rolling Thunder tour to bring this thread full circle

I thought maybe it was a Swedish cover: “Among the weaker tracks are the country tinged title track and ”St. John”, the piano ballad ”Vinterdröm”, and ”Kommer hem” which borrows a little too much from Dylan's ”Like a Rolling Stone” (did Bergman really think no-one would notice?).”
