Lots of records continued to be pressed to 78 after it was really necessary in order to supply the large number of 78rpm jukeboxes that were installed around the country. Into the 90's I was in touch with a company that pressed the Billboard 100 singles chart to 78. You could get "Smelled Like Teen Spirit" on 78. I thought that was pretty humorous.

Just watched most of the Country series over the Holidays, really interesting. A good companion to it is Mike Judge's new series, Tales from the Tour Bus. The first season covers outlaw country folks - rockers have nothing on those guys when it comes to substance abuse and general debauchery. Some of them were basically punk rockers with cowboy hats.

@morphe' - I think we may have had this exchange, can't remember: I knew Bob Eisenberg (author of Boychiks) back in the early 90s when I lived in Omaha, really interesting guy. Didn't really keep in touch after I moved away, but I was glad to see his book did so well, and every time I've seen one in a bookstore it's made me smile. Born to Kvetch I don't know; I'll check it out, thanks for the recommendation. I need to re-engage with my readings in Judaica. I got part of the way through the tales of rabbi Nachman of Bratslav, which I was really enjoying, but then as usual it fell by the wayside and I started reading several other things.
