This is the soundtrack to the late Robert Palmer’s (the authorial one!) dreams!

This sounds great!

Handy Haversack:

Just got back from Monty Hall. Hi, everybody!

Saw these guys play a couple weeks back. Lotsa fun.
  12:06am
Adam West Coaster:

Hey HH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am
Handy Haversack:

Adam, didn't get a chance to congratulate you on a win today! Congrats!
  12:09am
?:

Hi Rich and Devon. Dynamite prizes.
  12:09am
Adam West Coaster:

Thank you Sir! I love to roll the dice now and again, but ultimately every roll feeds WFMU which is my real fix. I’m just happy to be here..with friends.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12am
Handy Haversack:

Yeah, buddy. That is a truth. Weird fun night in Jersey City (our first time there!). Two ferries for the trip, which was gorgeous. Then a 10 PM bar curfew so people wouldn't ... congregate?

Anyway. Loads of fun!
  12:16am
Adam West Coaster:

@Handy, right on! Glad to hear of all the frivolity. I am going to try to get it together to visit Jersey City next year for the marathon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am

greetings rich and Devon and carcassoids
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am
Handy Haversack:

A BILLION copies? Wowzers!

@Adam, do it! Come out here! It's a really nice coast! We have cormorants.

Hi, @coela.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am

well-well-well into the future like the narrator in Vonnegut's "galapagos"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am
coelacanth∅:

howdy Handy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am
Handy Haversack:

Did you head upstate, @coela?

Gotta say (and this is gonna sound SO DORKY, but this might be the right crowd), that trip to JC and Monty Hall was awfully rewarding.

If you have been undecided about pledging: WFMU DJs are exactly as cool and unassuming and generous as you think.

So, just in case you can and haven't: PLEDGE. Seriously.

Then come visit. First beer's on me.
  12:29am
Adam West Coaster:

@Handy, that was beautifully said!
Avatar 12:30am

Rich that rustix song has never left my mind since last week's show. thanks?
  12:30am
P-90:

Hello Rich and Devon. Way cool (and classy) prizes tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am
coelacanth∅:

i'll come have a beer with you Handy! Sem invited me to join tomorrow but there's no way i can do it, unfortunately.
i did head upstate. i'm still going to work in connecticut next week though.
  12:31am
Adam West Coaster:

Hulloooo coelacanthø!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am
coelacanth∅:

hey Adam!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am
Handy Haversack:

Not sure that appeal did anything ... you're already converted @Adam!

But it was fantastic. And, you know, world --> crazy-town bananapants, and all. But we're gonna be in JC the next TWO days jamming out with whatever FMU cares to toss our way!

@coela, just let me know when you're in the city again! Beer is something my body needs anyway!
  12:33am
P-90:

Yo Coel!
  12:34am
Adam West Coaster:

I just pledged *again* and I’ll likely keep pledging this weekend because WFMU is the teacher I keep wanting to absorb the instruction of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am
coelacanth∅:

Handy it's funny i was trying to get in touch with a friend who volunteers a lot at wfmu to see if she'd want to go together. she lives in union county down there; anyway then she called tonight to say she'll be up where i live tomorrow.
weird.
but that's that. i wouldn't go there on sunday so that's that. i'm sure they're all set with volunteers now anyway.

- hey P-90!

"we all end up in boxes", I should've clarified for the board
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am
Handy Haversack:

I have been advised that I should stop pledging ... I get it. I have only broken protocols twice. I just ... well, you all know. Like you said, @Adam.

Honestly, there was a set of years when I stopped looking for new stuff, and I feel like I have shucked off that cloak, pushed my chair back from the table, checked out of this bourgeois motel, and said NO MORE JELLO FOR ME, MA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am
coelacanth∅:

(i'm hoping my pledge is acknowledged, since i made it before the last mic break but it wasn't.)
  12:41am
Adam West Coaster:

Winners, winners, winners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am
Handy Haversack:

Holy crap, Stereolab double LP!! I'm gonna see if the dog has any money.
  12:44am
P-90:

[raising glass] here’s to broken protocols!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45am
coelacanth∅:

yah -there're so many stereolab prizes this year- wish i could get one! i'm done pledging though. i already went up one "level" from what i really should've stuck with
  12:47am
Adam West Coaster:

@Handy, Bryce’s show on its own is enough to send my head spinning in the direction of this new thing and that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48am
Handy Haversack:

I hear you, coela. Me, too.

That said: all human beings will be monkeys.

So ... we had a good run!
  12:49am
P-90:

Stereolab hits a sweet spot in the WFMU demographic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am
Handy Haversack:

@Adam: HOLY SHIT I wish Bryce always talked as much as he does during Marathon. That's one cool dude.

But yeah, it's the one FMU disagreement Kate and I have. I dig what he does. Kate's waiting for SBB.
  12:55am
Adam West Coaster:

I completely agree with you, Handy! Listening to Bryce and Hearty chatting was such a pleasure to eavesdrop on!
  12:57am
Adam West Coaster:

Devon, I had that same question as well when I heard June Tyson singing “Smile” last week on WFMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am
coelacanth∅:

i went to visit wfmu before the october fundraiser, was supposed to volunteer but it took 4-8X longer to get there than it should've and Scott didn't need me when i got there.
there are 4 people who i went away feeling good about: Rich Hazelton, Bryce, Stashu and Matt Warwick. i felt like rich and i or Bryce and i could've talked for hours, under different circumstances.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01am
Handy Haversack:

Stashu was so nice. She and Kate danced a BUNCH. (I use one leg at a time.) Really cool chat with Joe Belock, too.
  1:08am

good morning everyone,
sorry for the delay but here's for the eyes:

when i got to the station and Scott said he doesn't need me Stashu, who introduced herself with her real name (as if i didn't already know who everyone was upon seeing them) drafted me into decorating album dividers for the record library, so i sat next to her and did that for a few hours. she was fun and genuine, and genuinely fun!
  1:24am
P-90:

“Decorating album dividers” sounds like fun.

Nifty. A little more Sun Ra in the haus. Is the 2001 disc the unused/rejected material? Cant keep up with all of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41am
coelacanth∅:

i was a listener like that. i have lots of tapes, but not many entire shows.
- earliest wfmu recordings c.1977, up to c.2011 when my antennae broke and i started using the internet.
  1:42am
P-90:

The internet was a game changer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am

true. i knew it was all getting archived too but i didn't see myself using the internet until 2011.

I knew I shouldn’t have given Ken the cassette of WFMU taped in 1982 (or thereabouts). Lost to the ages, I suppose. Or maybe safely in a pile.
