Steam tunnels! Watch out for Dungeons & Dragons players.
Avatar 7:04pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Dave, yes I did, just during the hasty evacuation. Most had left already but there's still some life left.
Hi chresti!

Just came from Scientologist children singing on Micah's show and I need healing
Avatar 7:09pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

I think the scientologists believe that if you bump your head on something you should hold your head to the place you bumped it to equalize the energy and relieve the pain. Definitely probably applies to radio stations right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm
ParUbi:

This is good! Nothing like hidden steam tunnel infrastructure as a balm

Latest rumor amongst the MAGAs: trepanation cures covid19.
Avatar 7:59pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Brian!
I hear there aren't really any trepanation kits available though
Avatar 8:00pm
βrian:

Oh, but the preppers stocked up on them months ago.

Weirdly, I feel like a prepper because we put up 105 quarts of tomatoes last summer.

hello again

Doug Schulkind:

For last Friday's marathon show I had the pleasure of offering as a prize the terrific new Eric Dolphy collection Musical Prophet. In doing some research on the release, I read one of the several essays included with the liner notes. In it the author discussed how Dolphy was fascinated by birdsong. He would sit and listen and actually transcribe the sounds he was hearing. Evidence of the insight he gained from this knowledge seeking can be heard quite starkly in his flute playing. So incredible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm
melinda:

@Brian yeah. All the talk about how people are going to be spending their time during the next few weeks has reminded me how socially distanced I already am.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm

Music is a good thing to stockpile.

My habib'ti is my salvation in that regard, @melinda, though I try not to live vicariously.

Eric Dolphy and Olivier Messiaen, @Doug.
Avatar 8:14pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

@Doug, amazing, I think somehow I heard that and maybe found Messiaen through that connection...memory is fickle though so I might be making that up

Thanks Jesse

I'm trying (and somewhat failing) to follow only the local news. Our local government is pretty solid, so there's minimal noise and fretting.

I have not been told to stop going to work yet, except when it rains. (I work at the tennis courts in Griffith Park)

Indoor courts?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
chresti:

I work for the city, so if things get bad, there would be some kind of civil service assignment for me..courts are outside, in a canyon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Doug Schulkind:

Really enjoying this Guffond piece. There was this faint pulsing chirp that I found particularly haunting. Then I realize it was my oven's timer downstairs in the kitchen.
Avatar 8:49pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Doug, that really exemplifies the kind of expanded field listening that I aim for, I can't tell you how happy that makes me!
Avatar 8:49pm
βrian:

Faint Pulsing Chirp was the name of Doug's first band in high school, if I remember right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm
chresti:

Haha, that happens to me when listening on headphones and the water kettle starts to whistle.

I'm usually good at tuning out news and media but have gotten sucked back in due to the corona. I hear contradictory info from different sources so it leads to a spiral of trying to sort it out.

Found a small 2 ounce bottle of hand sanitizer while wandering through the utterly dead streets of Brooklyn, so that’s good, right?
  9:51pm
JakeGould:

Also, as I walked through the truly dead and silent streets of Brooklyn, I heard one thing I haven’t heard in weeks: A car drive by playing Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight”
Avatar 9:53pm

Wow, that's truly a moment
