This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

two years ago, when I was on the way to Miami from Gainesville for a noise festival, I stopped at my brother's place to do two loads of laundry. First one took an hour, the second one took over an hour, and I was going to miss my friend's band, so I opened the lid and it broke. I didn't even bother to dry them (cracked the windows to w/ them draped over the seats worked).

(the lid didn't break, the whole washer did, and it took $200 to fix).

i have never had a washer about which i could form any opinion except that they have all been too loud

I live in an apt. building with a laundry in the basement, been nervous to go down there. Been doing hand laundry in a bucket but small items. When it comes to pants, sheets, etc. gonna have to go. Take a paper towel sprayed with alcohol to touch the knobs, etc.

It's just that there's so much in WFMU to choose: the main schedule, the alternates, the archives. There's a lot to delve into.

Hey all! I’m on the Drummer Stream more because I finally (before all of this Coronavirus stuff) sick of my radio reception issues. So I am now streaming with Bluetooth. So no FM for me but more variety.

If you can't wash clothes, hang/lay them in the sun. Is the recommendation I read somewhere.

when i lived in mexico that's all we ever did, but the sun was better there

my sister's "smart" washer (ge profile) always sucked; always took forever; never washed clothes clean...then it had to be moved up 2 steps, 8 feet total distance. it got even worse -wasting a ridiculous amount of time doing pointless things that i'm sure are programmed in just to dazzle the easily dazzled -like spinning really slowly for 3-4 minutes, then the other way, then doing nothing for several minutes, then gently rocking back & forth repeatedly.
it's probably a huge joke within the industry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm
coelacanth∅:

then it broke entirely before it was 8 years old and my sister said that's pretty good it lasted that long.
what the hell is wrong with people?

Very surprised I'm not familiar before now with Louis "Sabu" Martinez. Maybe some of my mentors skipped past him focusing just on Chano Pozo and later Cubans, but this recording is very interesting for its time.

@Doug: Ha! Seriously, I was struggling with deciding whether to stream Bluetooth with a dongle and such. Bugt then I found a really cheap — yet good sounding — JBL portable speaker. On it’s own it’s fine. But the second I put it in a vintage wood box the sound is great. And the speaker is pretty much pocket sized.

Anyway, I am looking forward to taking a long walk through Brooklyn tomorrow. Been a few days (week?) since I left any hovel in Bay Ridge.

Flash Strap! I thought this project had been abandoned because I always listened to your playlists via your blogspot site, only to find I have almost a years worth of playlists to listen to! So happy, but why did you stop posting on the blogspot, out of curiousity? lots of love from Madrid!
