At zoos, I have seen giraffes mate, elephants, rhinos and others, but the best by FAR happened when I dropped my kid off at the zoo for daycamp. It was closed, and as I was walking out I heard a loud CLACK! Then about 10 or 15 seconds later another CLACK! This time louder. I couldn’t figure out what it was but it kept up at the same rate & got louder until I came upon the Galapagos tortoise area. They were mating. And they kept at it. These guys were half the size of a VW bug. It was amazing, but so slow. Btw Rich I’ve seen films of those birds of paradise mating. The dance! The pageantry! Awesome.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am
Franco Twinkie:

I was staying at a house in Santa Cruz where giant slugs would come out of the drain in the kitchen sink at night and crawl across the counter. I got really sick there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am
Handy Haversack:

One of my lifetime best moments was at the Bronx Zoo. Kate and I and a young, like teenaged couple were watching the giraffes nuzzle one another. Both couples just fell into the taller-partner-arms-around-and-resting-chin-on-head-of-shorter-partner pose. A couple of minutes in I said, "Hard to believe they're the only other animal that kills for fun." The general couple-based spine straightenings were like a drug!

Franco, I am actively expunging that post from my memory.
