Go-to songwriters whose own self-penned recordings went quickly to the cut-out bins, but whose songs went gold for others, The Carpenters for example. It was kind of an in-joke that he played the 'man' behind the man who secretly wrote the songs in Phantom of The Paradise.

Go-to songwriters whose own self-penned recordings went quickly to the cut-out bins, but whose songs went gold for others, The Carpenters for example.
