Hello all! Can anyone ID today's mystery LP-under-the-cassettes? If you're familiar with it, it should be easy to recognize.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:59am
listener james from westwood:

How do, Tony! Hope things are safe 'round your corner of Portland!
Avatar 12:01pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, James! My corner of Portland has been very sedate, actually. Hope things are fine where you are too....
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:02pm
Yvang:

Hola Tony and friends... of the cassettes!
  12:02pm
JtotheK:

Hi Tony hi everyone! Commenting via the app so I don’t see the LP but will guess - Lawrence Welk.

Hey, hey, Yvang and JtotheK!!

cover:

Suicide
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
Yvang:

I'd say the LP ID is more perceptible than usual...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
Stanley:

Hi Tony the Tape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
Cmurtha:

Hello everyone, glad to here you are safe tony, and hope everyone else is doing fine with everything going on. I have been hearing the constant pops and bangs of the our continued decent into fascism since the cops go and occupy the area of Columbus across the bridge from me each night, but am fine personally. I look forward to the Italian Industrial tape.

listener james from westwood:

Peaceful in WW, though the local police decided they needed to park all their motorcycles in a tight row on the main drag, out of, IDK, a feeling of inadequacy.
Avatar 12:06pm
Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Stanley and "cover"!

Nope, the cover isn't Suicide. Yvang clearly knows what the score is....
Avatar 12:07pm
Tony Coulter:

Greets, Cmurtha!

Listener Bob in PGH:

The mystery LP almost looks like a Caroliner Rainbow release
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Oxidized:

wow, I just noticed that the Ichiban stream is gone. I better express my appreciation for what I have while I have it -- thank you for an always-great show, Tony!
Avatar 12:12pm
Tony Coulter:

Hola, Bob and Oxidized!

Thank you, Oxidized ... tho I don't think the Drummer stream is in any immediate danger.
Avatar 12:13pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Bob: Not Caroliner, no. As I said, Yvang clearly knows what it is, even though he's not saying. He is a man of Perception.
Avatar 12:15pm
Jason Elbogen:

Hi, Tony, how have you been?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Yvang:

It's been reissued on a parisian label/record shop.
Avatar 12:17pm
Tony Coulter:

Jason! All is fine over here. How've you been?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
Cmurtha:

Wait, why is Ichiban gone?
Avatar 12:19pm
Jason Elbogen:

I'm ok... Strange times, though.
Avatar 12:21pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Cmurtha: The reason is under wraps for the moment -- meaning, I don't know.

Photocopy Cha Cha:

a pity I gotta check this stuff later from whatever sources there are (yes I know there'll be no archive for this show), it is so sunny out there I gotta go swim. This Italiano Industriale tape sounds cool, very much of its time and yet very interesting.
Avatar 12:46pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Photocopy Cha Cha! Enjoy your swim. Here in Portland, it's -- of course -- raining.
Avatar 12:47pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Alessandro_Italy: Thanks!!
Avatar 12:51pm
Photocopy Cha Cha:

well I go swimming in rain too (safer as there'll be no people) as I love finnish summer. But yes, what a pity how many tape hiss episodes I have missed, gotta check for any stuff 'out there' that is on the playlists.
Avatar 12:58pm
Tony Coulter:

Lieutenant Murnau (on now) is a Vittore Baroni project ... mostly just him, mixing and matching all sorts of detritus ... and at other times involving completely different people, Monty Cantsin style.

@Oxidized and @Cmurtha: Regarding the “Rock ‘n Soul Ichiban” I know nothing deep, but the official Facebook group for the stream states it clearly; no need to have a Facebook account to read: www.facebook.com...

I am avoiding posting even publically known specifics because I really am loathe to gossip about internal politics of anything. So would encourage anyone reading this and following the threads there not add gossip to comments.

At the end of the day everyone is on edge nowadays and gossip ain’t no balm.

Cmurtha:

@jake thank you for the link, I will look into that now.

I love WFMU, because I think only on this station could I get up, and sit back down to "Starsky and Huch are dead, we fight for peace"
Avatar 2:10pm
Tony Coulter:

Allegedly, every track on this tape is exactly three minutes long.....
Avatar 2:13pm
Tony Coulter:

And ... here's the sole review of the tape on Discogs:

"Quontino December 14, 2019
Probably one of the worst records ever recorded. Just some talentless dipshit making annoying noises with his voice. There's no instrumentation of any kind, zero song structure... seriously, what the *fuck* was the point of this release? Why on earth would anyone want to listen to this utter trash?"
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
Yvang:

Using "The worst ever" is always a kind of award
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
Yvang:

"trash" as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

and now this "trash" is getting airplay! Who's got the last laugh?
Avatar 2:27pm
Tony Coulter:

Ha! Take that, Quontino!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Stanley:

This is too much even for me.
See ya Tony.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

Quontino is probably just frustrated because his grunge band in the 90s never made it out of the practice space
Avatar 2:29pm
Tony Coulter:

Oh well. See you, Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm
Listener Bob in PGH:

Or was it a nu metal band?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:29pm
WR:

I'm enjoying the ride.
Avatar 2:31pm
Tony Coulter:

If not for filesharing, I'm pretty certain Quontino would never have heard this tape -- and I'm guessing he/she downloaded it without knowing anything about it, or its context.
Avatar 2:34pm
Tony Coulter:

BTW, I'm just adding new tracks to the playlist every three minutes, per the alleged track times ... even though it's not really matching up with anything.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Yvang:

It's on Youtube www.youtube.com...
  2:42pm
JakeGould:

That Quontino really is a happy fella! “Absolute unadulterated trash.” “An utterly pointless tape.” “Bahaha, why the hell would you take a photo of the liner notes at an angle like that? How utterly idiotic! The point is to read them, right? What imbecile took these photos?” www.discogs.com...
Avatar 2:43pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Yvang: Oddly that youtube upload is missing around 5 minutes or so of the tape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
coelacanth∅:

i was about to leave somewhere between the 5 and 10 minute mark, then i heard "an instrument"... waited a minute.
it got interesting. i'd skip the first "2-3 tracks" in the future though!
Avatar 2:47pm
Tony Coulter:

There are all sorts of instruments: telephones, kids in the background.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
coelacanth∅:

i mean, it's 18X more interesting than "shittyflute"

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm

i'd bet quantino took the tape out a few minutes into it, missing the good stuff.
