re: Talmy
In the the 1960s, there is no way a producer could not be hands on. Bands had no control and no expertise. The budgets were tight as hell and the records were recorded in between touring. In addition, Talmy's whole process of splitting the guitar signal and massively compressing one is all over a lot his record productions.

With Grand Funk Railroad, Rundgren might have surmised there wasn't much to do given the standard three-piece set up and the ego involved. He might have figure the basic rhythm tracks didn't need much of his attention... so he stepped way back during the initial tracking. I would think with GFR, he would focus on the overdubs and the mix -- that's what he could add to that formula.

Ecch, not Joe Tex. You're right. I was having a brief moment. Confused it with Knife and Fork -- which is Kip Anderson anyway. As you were.

"Learn to play craps" -- ha! They are eager to have you learn to play craps at the casino.

I stick with poker.

Last time I gambled for reals was 1976, Vegas. I was there for the Yes/Donovan show. Underage, I ran through the old MGM casino dropping nickels into slot machines. Netted five bucks without getting caught. Vowed then and there never to return. That take is now worth more than $23.

Just to be clear: In the 1977 the Supreme Court decided than a neo-Nazi group had the right to march through a Jewish neighborhood in Skokie, Illinois. I passionately DISAGREE with that judgment. Everyone knows what the Nazis stand for and their hateful ideas must be emphatically rejected.I don't think this opinion contradicts anything I wrote in my previous posts. Thanks everyone for a lively discussion!

We were at a Reno casino with Rex and Green Eyed Lurline and I won 40 cents from a nickel slot machine. I leapt around like I won a car and my husband was mortified.

Yo... Michael. I started playing craps about 3 years ago. Love, love , love the game. You meet the wierdest people at the craps tables. I just expierenced the new socially distanced craps at Parx casino on Monday. Self isolated slots, 6 gamblers per table, must hit the hand sanitizer station before you are allowed to play, and of course masks required. If only people would learn how to roll numbers, why does everyone 7 out these days?
