Cycling is usually either metal my friend recommends (Yob, Sleep, ...) or trance stuff (Frow Show). Longboarding can be anything, but rollerskating is always smelly funk, heavily larded with Louis Cole stuff that Duane (conducter of his eponymous Train) enlightened me about. That Pepper Box track you spun a couple-three weeks back is on there too - the synth+clapping is classic roller-rink style...

@Annie, yes, that has been my experience too! ;(
In the late 60’s and early 70’s, it was hard to research groups, their history or who led it all, some were seemingly extensions of alternative youth culture, though once in, had the same misogynistic tendencies one found in the mainstream culture. I stay away from any membership to large groups and institutions, too many triggers from past bad experiences. The Optimist Club though, geez, that’s too bad, for they exist to do good for others,... wow, I’ve lost my optimism indeed!

Did he lack self control? In some ways @ some times. Did he get to evolve past age 40 in 1980 - like so many bigmouths have been privileged to? No he did not.

I usually only passed 7mile and Woodward on the way to the State Fair, where I saw Johnny Cash perform. That Animals 45 definitely sounded like a different take. The vocals are lazier at the start. If words are "missing", it could be that Eric either dropped them, or they were asked to be dropped. Kids were sent off miles away to boarding type schools, women were always in the back of the room, never in management, were told their brains were smaller then men’s, marriages were arraigned by higher ups, things like that. Things are totally different now, they learned the hard way, though there are still vestiges of the old 19th century Indian cultural ways.

Forgot to add that I was born in 1963 and my siblings were 7, 12, 14, and 16 years older than me. I absorbed their musical tastes.

@Matt F: As a fan of their music, I know what you mean. If I were ever stuck in a room full of Beatle lovers or haters, I'd be chomping on the cyanide capsule within minutes.

Speaking of Constantine, any of y'all ever seen Éric Rohmer's "Perceval le Gallois"?

In ‘Goldfinger’ James Bond puts down the Beatles by saying he would never listen to their music without ear muffs on (to muffle the sound).

Joe McG: no, but sounds about right. Can't believe they gave the deluxe reissue treatment to the album where you can hear the drugs stop working.

@Matt: Ha ha! Can't wait for the "Black and Blue" deluxe reish that comes with diamond-encrusted handcuffs.

I worked with a guy at the record store who loathed the Beatles and thought DC5 were better.
