I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

It's a Swedish sci-fi about a spaceship that drifts off course. It has a long and interesting back-story. First written as an epic poem in 1956 by Nobel Laureate Harry Martinson, then adopted into an 12-tone opera in the - with a bunch of oscillators & primitive electronic sound effects to represent the ship's sentient computer, Mima. If atonal opera with oscillators is your bag, there's a video of a TV production of this strange opera from 1960.

@HH: The film is great but also a collossal bummer, kind of like "High Life" from a few years back. Maybe I have a particular thing for bummer sci-fi.
I don't know that Bengtsson book, it sure looks like a fun read, maybe I should give that a try, I'm sort of bogged-down in "Berlin Alexanderplatz" right now.

YETI BOB:

@andy the painter: once I was sharing a workshop with a guy, he had a boombox over on his side, and next to the boombox he had an electric fan that I didn't notice. The boombox was not up too loud and I could only hear the droning of the fan and a bit of the drums. I thought it was some kind of really cool minimalist drone track. So after a while I piped up to say: "Hey, this music is really cool, I don't think I've heard this before, who is this?" And he looked up and said "DEVO" - like I was from Mars or something.

Finally home from work. We closed up early for the holiday weekend. It was lovely to hear the space tones as I made my way through suburban Essex county. Felt like Brit Marling's Another Earth.

I wish I could have visited the vacuum museum. My late father worked at the Electrolux factory making vacuum parts. After he retired, he would repair vacuums he found on the street, paint them and sell or give them away. I had a 1950s unit spray painted gold for a long time until it gave out.
