Hi everyone. Leftover topic from last playlist (slight apologies): Fermilab director Leon Lederman called the Higgs Boson the "Goddamn particle" - he wrote a book and the publishers forced him to change it to "God Particle". I've heard that he always hated that name. (And it's not a constituent of other particles - matter is fermions. the Higgs is a boson, a force carrier, like photons)

clarke, I basically make a sauce of garlic teriyaki, soy sauce, Sriracha, (good) honey, rice vinegar, Thai chili paste, LOTS of crushed red pepper (we have iron palates; I use almost a tbsp. cut by two-thirds for regular spice appreciators), and corn starch. Slice the sprouts in half and either sautee in peanut oil charged with a little chili oil or bake with a little chili oil for a while, then pour in the sauce and cook a while longer.

Handy Haversack:

We watched two more-or-less horror movies last night. The new /Invisible Man/, which was well done but does have some triggering stuff for anyone who's been in an abusive relationship. And then a thin but clever, hour-long movie called /Host/, a horror movie that is set in a Zoom seance. Topical!

Also watched the I think HBO /Raised by Wolves/. It has its moments, but lots of logic problems, too. And I started in on season 2 of /The Boys/, though Kate's not interested.

"The General" also a classic as are "Three Ages" and the shorter ones like "One Week" and "The Electric House" which is making fun of "smart houses" a century ago.

Nosey retail stores? When stores ask my zip code, I instantly tell them; 60609. All the zip codes where I live start with 0, but when we were kids, and watched the Price is Right during the summer, “Johnny” was always talking about prizes from the “Spiegel Catalog; Chicago, Illinois, 60609.” Extra points if you use the “Johnny voice” when you give the zip code.
