	10:54am Trouble: I don't imagine the right wing backlash has even seen the film, which is soooooo obviously not promoting sexualization of children. the uproar itself seems to support the idea that child predators are created by children, in the way they look. Similar to the rape theory that if you are wearing a short skirt you are asking for it. Ridiculous smoke screen to keep the religious right constantly fearful that culture is being taken over by wild liberals. The film is a critique of the options offered up to young children who don't even know what they are choosing, whether it be a strict religion or using their body to get attention. Society offers both without a critique, this film questions that.
	10:59am Roberto: It seems like fairly bipartisan backlash. I don't plan on watching, but for the government to get involved, especially when the film wasn't even made in the U.S., feels like overreach.
	11:02am Trouble: The thing that is oversexualized is the choice Netflix made of how to visually promote the film. Trailers typically don't reflect a film's content, they sensationalize to attract attention of potential viewers. they screwed up big time with how they created the trailer and that jump started the crazy

	11:13am The Oscar: My understanding is that the backlash was initially sparked by Netflix's (admittedly kind of awful) promotional materials, but was quickly seized by the Q-lunatics and driven into utter insanity. More level heads cooled off once they could see what the film actually is-- which of course drove less rational factions even further off the deep end.

	10:54am Trouble: I don't imagine the right wing backlash has even seen the film, which is soooooo obviously not promoting sexualization of children. the uproar itself seems to support the idea that child predators are created by children, in the way they look. Similar to the rape theory that if you are wearing a short skirt you are asking for it. Ridiculous smoke screen to keep the religious right constantly fearful that culture is being taken over by wild liberals. The film is a critique of the options offered up to young children who don't even know what they are choosing, whether it be a strict religion or using their body to get attention. Society offers both without a critique, this film questions that.
	10:59am Roberto: It seems like fairly bipartisan backlash. I don't plan on watching, but for the government to get involved, especially when the film wasn't even made in the U.S., feels like overreach.

Trailers typically don't reflect a film's content, they sensationalize to attract attention of potential viewers. they screwed up big time with how they created the trailer and that jump started the crazy
