the bYRdS for those few most crucial years were like a Rawk Miles Davis - riding & driving the changes & evolutions. Bands tend to be like The Beatles, Stones, Who - or bYRdS... Todd, cool show! The Pretty Things and The Action both covered the Hillman-era Byrds a fair bit. Most of the songs on Gilded Palace Of Sin were sped up by producer Larry Marks, hence the Gram/Chris harmonies on Devil In Disguise being a bit Alvin & The Chipmunks. The Byrds' version of Miles Davis' Milestones was said to be quite good by producer Gary Usher but Lord knows where it is now. I would kill to hear it...only heard the little bit on that SongMakers TV special. Play some bluegrass, Todd, how about Chris' band The Hillmen? C'mon!
