This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Last week you started with "Bacchanale Chez Satan"; this week we kick off with "Requiem Pour Satan". Is this your version of Christmas music in July?

I think I would have to say his finest LP is Percussions Dans L'Espace – easily my favorite – but this epitomizes his sound on a grand scale unusual in library music

Hi Flash and all. Enjoying this!

originally recorded & released in 1972 under the title Giant (by Z International records, soon to be known as Zéro International) - when MP2000 released it as Rythmes Janko recorded an additional track, "Underground Session" which we're hearing now. With JP Alarcen, if I'm not mistaken

Loving the set, Flash! I'm usually in the office listening and working, real treat to have you on my stereo, with dinner,, nice!
WR @7:38- was eating and listening, just caught up with comments. They closed my office at the last minute today (was getting into my car to head in when I heard). I had to have to a back mri, so I went in anyway, and took care of some things on line after it was done. (Closed mri's are really awful-remind me to avoid doing that again).

Avatar 8:31pm
Flash Strap:

really cool sounds on this Magma - Ondioline i think, something else too? theremin?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm
Little Danny:

This is reminiscent of some of Quincy Jones's In Cold Blood-era soundtracks, but wilder.
Avatar 8:32pm
Flash Strap:

i totally hear that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm
Little Danny:

It might have been an Ondes Martenot, which could make a lot of those sounds.

Magma and vivisection -- a body don't wanna experience either firsthand.
Avatar 8:35pm

right, yes - is there a big diff between ondioline and ondes martenot?
Avatar 8:35pm
Flash Strap:

@b/p: how about ectoplasm?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm
Little Danny:

The Martenot has a mechanism that sounds/works like a theremin, not sure if there's anything comparable on the ondioline.

I really don't know, though!
  8:36pm
still b/p:

Well, if the spirits mean us no harm...
Avatar 8:37pm
northguineahills:

If I was a normal person, and didn't spend 20% of my paycheck on rekkids, I'd still cabbage in the bank. But, here I am on WFMU, so make your own conclusions.

When I saw Johnny Greenwood w/ an ondes martenot, like a douchebag, I pushed my way up to the front of the stage, leaving my gf in the crowd, just to look at it at work....
Avatar 8:39pm
Flash Strap:

I think you're right LD, I've never been sure either
Avatar 8:41pm
Flash Strap:

yeah LD is on the money - martenot can make a theremin sound but ondioline w/ all its powers cannot
Avatar 8:41pm
northguineahills:

It does have that faux Theremin ability.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
