GIA WANG joins us now to sing a few beautiful songs over the telephone! Let me explain what's happened, and how we came to know of Gia....

Last Wednesday evening , I was forced - for the 3rd week in a row - to interact with the pre-recorded banter of Andy Breckman & Ken Freedman on their Comedy show called "Seven Second Delay" . Andy & Ken thought it would be really fun to have listeners call in to the show and sing a song with the 2 hosts -- who, you remember, were not actually there. Luckily for us all, somebody called in and ignored Andy & Ken's request for "California Dreamin'" by the Mamas & The Papas. She instead performed a delightful a capella song about the pastures of Mongolia, and I was so moved, I asked her to call back during my own show. And she did! It was at this point that we learned who she is -- she is Gia Wang (that's pronounced like "Wong"). She moved to NYC from Beijing in 1987 to attend Columbia University; she currently works in real estate. AND.... she sings. Tonight, Gia sang for us the following songs:

"The Shepherd Girl Singing About Mongolian Pastureland"
(this title was made up on the spot.)

"A Song to the Hero"

"Snowflakes From North of the Great Wall"

"Take Me Home, Country Roads"
...yes, that one. And yes, by my request.

Oh, in case you hadn't noticed, you can listen to all of her performances simply by clicking on the song title, and that is why the Internet is God and The Devil all wrapped up.

Thank you Gia! I hope you'll call back when you've expanded your repertoire...
