He was a musician and did a lot of the album covers for Blue Note and Riverside...Paul Bacon. He got Monk in the little red wagon! But they were friends.

@adamdoesit @10:40 living in a segregated (sick)society and being subjected to the indignities and economics of Jim Crow did not help Monk’s mental health

Diagnoses are easy. :) To say that he was totally unique, deeply rooted in musical tradition, and badly damaged by his contact with American society would be to describe not just Monk but a great many of his peers.

@Gina I love that little red wagon cover! Monk's Music is a desert island disc for me. Now I know who to thank for the art.

Dr. Shock was the host in Philly, and we also had "Creature Double Feature" on channel 17 back in the day! Zacherley was a Philly native too before he moved to New York. Love the clip of The Box Tops on his Disc-O-Teen show that's on YouTube

Enjoyed your show. I like the Dillard and Clark selection-- one that's not on my Byrd Parts cd. And only you can go from Boris Karloff to the Funk Brothers. If you haven't already, check out the DVD Standing In the Shadows of Motown.
