Favoriting February 15, 2021: FDL316 Does your answer make sense?

"Does your answer make sense?" is a standard question you need to ask yourself after solving a problem. It's one of the things I learned during a weekend of browsing internet radio in the Russian, Arab, African and Asian world using a very addictive app called 'radio garden'. It didn't show what exactly was playing, only station names and locations, but at a certain point I decided to start recording because I needed to share at least some of it with you. I've made a few mixed bouquets and surrounded them with other music that came to mind and a few regular FDL items, such as Ton Rückert's Exotica Ring CD Of The Week and Jan van Houwelingen's song translation.

Have fun!

Jan

next time maybe some Dutch piratenzenders with bathroom reverb en Omrop Fryslân?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
Jan Turkenburg:

are those kinda pirates still around? I haven't listened to AM in ages.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:34pm

I wish I had recorded a few in the 70s, when I first discovered them.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Still planning to do a Piratenhits special, one day. But first I have to ask my doctor for blood pressure meds and extra tranquilizers to counter the effects this music has on me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I agree, Jan, piratenmuziek is horrible. But that is why it is so funny. Especially the banter between the awful music. I think Darryl will love the music though. I always have the idea there still are some piratenzenders left in Ter Apel, HengeloOoo0o, and other Geman border regions. You know, places where "Brommers kieken" still is the usual end of a night out.

OK, bye Jan, I've got to go. Hope to meet you again on wednesday. Thanks for the tunes!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Jan Turkenburg:

of course. Most of them will have gone online. And I know that the Dutch AM band is so empty these days that you can buy a frequency for non commercial use relatively cheap. That's what a group DJs of the old Radio Zwolle have done. They joined one of these ex-pirates that has bought a am. frequency.

Bye Paper Kosmonaut, see you!

Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, I actually learned a thing or two while listening to all these stations in different countries. How much English is mixed in local languages f.i. I wonder this is the way a Dutch interview sounds to non-dutch speakers. We have borrowed a lot of English words as well. I think especially when it comes to sports and technology.
