Am so glad that WFMU makes that possible (by giving me something to do during the day that feels vastly more productive and rewarding that most day jobs I've had).

Still, I have to work with this higher up who doesn't value my knowledge and experience. It's really frustrating. I feel if I take the plunge, happiness is on the other side.

In recent years (not just during the pandemic) many friends, including some who work at certain allegedly prestigious companies, have confided to me the debilitating levels of stress they have to deal with -- to the point of seeking therapy, suffering adverse health affects (from stomach and back problems to alcoholism), or just feeling burned out and useless (as one said after quitting, "unable to do anything at all for half a year"). And that nearly every job either (1) ends up this way or (2) is so boring and unchallenging as to lead to create a different kind of stress.

In recent years (not just during the pandemic) many friends, including some who work at certain allegedly prestigious companies, have confided to me the debilitating levels of stress they have to deal with -- to the point of seeking therapy, suffering adverse health affects (from stomach and back problems to alcoholism), or just feeling burned out and useless (as one said after quitting, "unable to do anything at all for half a year"). And that nearly every job either (1) ends up this way or (2) is so boring and unchallenging as to lead to create a different kind of stress.
