I have lots of her stuff, a box of her Pablo recordings, and a 3 box set of her Mercury recordings. Saw her once at the JVC Jazz Fest (I think that was who was sponsoring it at the time, now it's Newport Jazz Fest).
The Mercury stuff is uneven (searching for that pop hit), but there's great stuff on it.

re. first jazz radio. For me growing up in Canada it wasn’t one particular program or broadcaster but rather one artist, Oscar Peterson. His music was everywhere and he was still very active. I went deeper with records from the library. Opened up the world of jazz.
